Talking Garage queen to daily driver (and DEs)

Bought a one owner, 96 993 with 11k miles here in Colorado; finally. First owner took good care of the car, mostly in the garage.
This beaut is graduating to a daily driver and 5-6 days/year DE car. Keeping it stock for now.

I was going to keep stock too but I was bit by the bug. I bought GIAC chip, RSR mufflers (oops forgot to ship to Robin) and drilled my airbox. Next is suspension and brake pad.

Congrats! Beautiful color.

Keeping it stock for now.

I said that once! Then I found this wonderful Place. The chances of you keeping it stock.....are slim and none. Slim just left the room!! Congrats on your new car!

I had a small pic of an arena red 96 911 taped onto my computer monitor that I looked at every day, dreaming of the day I would actually own one. It looks like you had the same dream.

Nice color! You've inspired me to drive mine more in the rain and awful weather days. I just drove to York Pa yesterday for a graduation party my cousin had, and everyone asked "where's your "new" Porsche?" I said, "But, but, we're having torrential rains today and I didn't want to drive it in the bad weather on the 3 hours roundtrip so I took the BMW instead". They smirked disappointedly and changed topics. Aarrrghhh. Got to take the beast out in ALL weather.

Steve Steve Steve,

Oh man! Just drive the thing!. I drive mine rain or shine! everyday! I bought it with 21k 2 years ago or so?.....she just turned 54k! I have never owned a car for so long, nor put that many miles on any car I owned. DRIVE it....the car will not self destruct with rain!

Phil Phil Phil -

You're right, dang nabbit. I just hate to clean it so I only drive it when it's nice out. Total laziness.

I will commit myself, here and now, in the presence of all you Rennlisters, that I solemnly swear to ... oh man this is hard... drive it in the rain! Even when it's raining like mad. It's just pouring out right now. If it weren't 1:03am, I'd get in the thing and just blast it through our rain drenched, mud soaked streets. Heck, it's got 60k miles on it. What the hay am I worried about. It's hit the bottom of the depreciation curve. I might as well enjoy it. I could be dead in a year .

Howie:

Yes, it'll be a great daily driver. As for errands, when my gf told me to do a Costco run, my response to her was "I hope you have a lot of small things in mind!" We ended up running the errand together in her Acura Legend!

And as for the snow, I've been told that with good snow tires (I recommend Nokians), the 911 with its rear weight bias does better than FWD cars (can't compete with the Audis and Subarus that are all over the Rockies though!)

Steve:

I was running errands in the 911 on Sat. despite the torrential rains. Was careful at the intersections though since I didn't want to power oversteer in 2nd. And I only have RWD!

Also, drove down to Baltimore last night and back. I thought roads around Philly were bad but boy, you guys in MD really outta increase your state road repair budget. I thought my car was going fall apart driving around the inner harbor. Perhaps that's why you don't take it out very often?

Rezal:

Yeah, our roads are god awful. I live in the DC area and the roads are worse than the Baltimore roads you drove in. Oh well - what you gonna do? We look at every moment in our cars as an autocross with the potholes acting as our cones .

Enjoy,

Steve
