Default bridgestone SO2A's

I recently ordered 18in rims, and I just noticed that the front are 225 40 S02 A's and the rears are 265 35 S02's not A's, anyone know if this is the way it's supposed to be. Or did they screw up?

It's a screw-up. You should have the same model tire on all 4 wheels.
The A's took the place of the old S02's.

Make sure you replace the rears with S-02A's. They are MUCH better than the S-02's.

Hey Sean:

Here's a picture comparing the tread pattern of an S-02A (on the left) and an S-02 (on the right) . . . as you can see, they are quite different.

Also, here's a picture from behind the car with a 285 S-02A on a 10" Kinesis rim on a narrow body and another with a close-up of the S-02A tread pattern.

Sean,

I have SO2's (18") on my car. All four tires are about 18 mos old. Fronts are about 1/4 worn and rear's are about 3/4's worn. Same sizes as your car.

I don't know what your situation is and who is responsible for making this "screw-up" right financially for you, but if you want, we may be able to help each other out.

- If you decide to keep the SO2 A's in the front and buy the same tires for the back, I would be interested in purchasing your rear SO2's, especially if they are new or close to it. That way I could retire my rear SO2's and get full life out of my fronts with a matching set.

When all four are worn I was planning to go to the Michelin Pilot Sport tires.

Let me know if this is something that may fit into your plans. You can email me or give me a call at the office. 800-333-0519 x 106.

Hey Mike,

LOL . . . I wish it was . . . with that kind of parking real estate in Manhattan I'd be home right now watching several of my beautiful assistants count my money. Actually that was my office parking garage in Atlanta . . . completely different real estate issues than here in NYC.

I'm currently living on the UWS at 74th and Riverside . . . not too far from Seinfeld's garage if that's the correct street in the Porsche-Haus article. I'd love to get a look at his cars . . . I'm sure he's got some interesting ones . . . that and I'm suffering Porsche withdrawals right now as I've kept my car in Atlanta. I just couldn't rationalize the economics when I'd use it so infrequently here. Although, I may not save any money in the long run as I now spend much more time planning and prioritizing upgrades!

Have a great weekend.

Is there another way to tell ?
Is the 'A' written on the tire itself ?

I just got my front tires changed, I asked for S02As, and from your pictures it seems they gave me the old SO2s... :-( On the receipt it's written SO2As.
I'll have the rear tires next week (not in stock, and I got a flat tire yesterday on the front).

And I think there was a way to tell when the tires were made. A number, maybe made of year digit, and week #. Does anyone know ?

BTW, what is the typical tire wear during a DE ? I understand it's for sure related to the pilot's skills. But what do you guys see on your tires ? What is the minimum tread level we need to go to a DE ?

Thanks,

-Guillaume

Yes, the sidewall is clearly marked.
