Red caliper touch up paint?
#3
Not too sure touching up will last long given the heat the calipers get to when breaking. They are painted using a process called powder coating which is much more heat resistent. Best to have them powder coated professionally which can prove expensive but cheaper than replacing the calipers.
I have a 96 4S and the calipers are a sorry site. I reckon it's a combination of the heat and possibly the previous ownder using an abrasive wheel cleaner which distroyed the lacquer on the calipers and thus the paint.
I asked my OPC here in Ireland if they could refurbish the calipers for me. They never did it before and checked with Porsche. Porsche's advice was to replace them if I really wanted to but strongly advised against me or anyone else powder coating them. Replacement isn't really an option given the price of the Big Reds.
Not sure what I'll do, but would really like to get them refurbished somehow as they take away from the car.

Luis, I had mine powder coated about a year ago. I also painted the white "PORSCHE" on each caliper with heat resistent paint. So far the paint has held up fine. As far as the color goes if Robin says they are Guards Red I would bet they are Guards REd. Mick
