Dangers of removing airbag with bat connected?

Quick thanks to all that replied with help!
Couple of comments:
* I could not remove the tach with the steering wheel in place, even after removing the plastic moldings. Maybe it's because I've got a tip and trip computer. It was really faster to remove the steering wheel than the plastics anyway.
* Turned out to not be much of a job r/ring the steering wheel - and I did disconnect the bat.
* The radio code was not on a sticker under the ash tray (it was on a card safely hidden away in my file cabinet)
* The bulbs are not accessible from the speedo hole. The back of the tach has a screwed on cover again likely because of the trip computer.
* Can you believe these little xmas tree sized bulbs are $8 each? I haven't found an aftermarket alternative; let me know if there is one.
Thanks again guys!

Perhaps I have a deeper tachometer or bulkier steering wheel.
Maybe it's a bulkier leather dash.
Someone else tried too without success.
Steering wheel's coming off next...
