I'm considering fitting 18" RS replica wheels on my car and would like to compare the specs of the originals and replicas.
Does anyone have the RS specs (offset, weight) to hand. Also what were the original tyre sizes fitted?
I have searched the archives to no avail.
I am aware of the steering rack brace/bracket issue.

Found the offset specs at Gert's site....
Front 8Jx 18" ET 52
Rear 10J x 18" ET 65
Weights and original tyres sizes would still be useful to know.
Boy are those originals expensive, even from Gert!

Markc,
If it helps :-
a standard 993RS front wheel and road tyre weigh 22.5Kg
the rear weighs 24.5Kg
They look beautiful, but they are heavy.
What car are they for, if they are for track use, then there are a number of lightweight alternatives to choose from.

Phil,
It's a 95' 993 Carrera. I intend to keep my current 17" 993 Cups for occassional trackday use, so the new 18's will be more for road "show", rather than track "go".
I've also considered the Eta Krone's. I really dislike anything with a twisted spoke (it's a personal thing) so S/Turbo wheels are a no go. BBS/Fikse/RUF too expensive!
Hank,
Are you talking about the original or reps or both being waaaay heavy?
I badly need new road tyres all round and it seems to me the perfect time to keep the current set for track use (Pilot Sport Cups later) and get a new set for road use.

MarkC:
I have the originals. Check them out at http://www.p-car.com/hank at the bottom of the page.
I am not aware of any reproductions other than the Kinesis Cups which are not true 18s and don't clear big reds without spacers or special order offsets; however, they are relatively light. I raced on those wheels (17” Kinesis) for about 2 years before switching to 18” Fikses.

Guys,
There is a 993 RS replica wheel available the sizes are different to the standard wheels but quality is good, and they look the same as originals.
They are 8.5J ET50 and 10J ET56, they will fit a 993 perfectly without spacers, and will clear big red calipers.
We market these wheels for anyone that is interested

Hank,
Don't they just look damm fine!
I'm in the UK. Over here Speedline (Aliseo?) and Tramont both make RS replicas and there may be others.
RS,
No plans to fit big reds, so no problem there. Calculating the rolling radius of the 265/35/18's, I make it that the speedo will under read slightly. 285/30/18 is closer but is still a little under the standard 255/40/17.
I favour the 265 as I'm unlikely to be able to push the grip envelope on the road in either, and the front to rear width ratios will dial out a little understeer.

Hank, many thanks for the compliment... Thats the only picture I have at the moment, but now I have finally purchased a digital camera I will take some more as soon as it finally stops raining here !!
Mark, sorry I don't know the offsets, the wheels were on the car when I bought it.
I can never remember the exact tyre sizes, I will double check tonight and post another response.

Wow Stuart, Your silver bullet looks awesome!!! The rims also are perfect!
When you post the size of tires can you tell us your comments if you have rubbing with them or not? What suspension are you running??
Thanks
