because the moron who previously had the car blacked them out, as well as the deck lid grill (which i replaced with a 69 chrome grill, incorrect but looks good, look at the difference between your 67 black project and your tomato and you'll notice the grill is different). replacement grills dont fit well, and are cheep-o plastic that cost 45 bucks a pair. to get a set of original grills, you will pay, and they will most likely be pitted to no end. when i can afford it, im gettin those puppies re chromed (i think he just painted flat balck ove the chrome).
thats one bright tub!

I got new horn grilles for the "Lil' Mater". I can give you my old ones until you get those worked...or buy new or whatever.
Yeah, my decklid grille from the '67 912 is in pretty nice shape. Definitely a keeper. Wonder how it'll look with a ducktail?
I love the brushed metal/chrome accents on that metallic orange. That's the only thing that makes me think going with Zanzibar Red over the original Tangerine would be cool. Decisions, decisions...

thanks, i really appreciate that, but the grills from the lil mater wont fit. the swb cars have longer horn grills than the 69 up. if it wasnt for that id take you up on it.
i have the replacement horn grills i mentioned. they can fit on, dont get me wrong, but they dont fit correctly either, and there is a half centemeter gap between the fender and the grill, which is why i kept the blacked out ones on. if push came to shove i can always put them on when i rechrome the originals, but i need to worry more about putting my money into the work to replace the front pan, and the rear spring plate bushings this winter.

hmmm.. the early grill on a duck tail.. never really even seen a 70's grill on a ducktail to be honest, but i think it would look good.
hmm.. then again, it has a really different look, when you notice it. i dont know, id have to look at it to really tell, but i think it would look good regardless.
