Default My 993 finally developed that vintage patina smell

After being off the road as a daily driver for over a year, the 993 finally has that vintage air cooled car smell in the cockpit. No... not the old moldy and musty...or the burned oil smell. But that wonderful slightly sweet vintage leather smell.

Sat in it for an hour and just soak up the flavour.

I love the smell of my 911's. My kids love it too and have asked why no other car smells like them.

Spray and wipe down with Lexol and it can have that smell every day as it keeps the leather soft! Also add a little grease to the seat tracks and a wiff of hot clutch and it is sublime!

They do have a unique smell (as do many other older cars). 993 is exceptionally nice

I love that about these cars. Makes you feel like you're in a 993 even before you start the engine.

I'm not there yet. The previous owner kept air fresheners in the car (sacrilege!) and that smell hasn't dissipated yet.

A little burned oil smell does finish the experience. Truly 911...

I had a 1965 VW Beetle that had a similar scent. My 88 911 Cab has a stronger aroma than the 993 (when the top is up, of course ).

Mine's the same. I had my detailer fog the interior which helped a lot but it's still not like what my 964 smelled like. I do miss that smell. Hopefully, the air freshener will continue to dissipate and that lovely aircooled p-car smell will take over.
