DE Tire and brake pads
Been tracking my 993 on NTO5 and with pagid orange pads for a couple of years. No real complaints, but looking for suggestions and opinions for other tires and pads.
What say the other 993 track junkies?

What characteristics of handling do you want to change? The shotgun approach isn't recommended. What skill level are you? What tracks do you tend to haunt the most? What's the suspension set up ? Dual purpose car or dedicated track/race prep?

Typically trailer to the track.
Instructor level
Pss9, RS sway bars, track seats and harness.
Have been satisfied with the traction and the stopping power thus far. Not really looking for big change in handling.

The orange RS44 compound is an older compound. You'd probably be better off with the yellow RS29 compound.

Trailer opens up a bunch of options...
For a cheap tire, I like the hankook z214... For all out performance you can't beat r7... I really want to like the bfg r1, it's a great tire, but they don't make the correct front for our cars.
I've been really happy with pagig blacks (see no reason to run orange unless you really aren't getting any heat)... Been talking with some pros who tell me blacks are antiquated... Don't know what the latest greatest is....

NT01 and Pagid 29(yellow) are my choice
NT05 is drag radial and Nitto intends them to be used only on the rear axle of drag racers.
Pagid had 2 yellows(they may have others now as their line was expanded last year)
19 and 29, I like the 29 a bit more than 19
Tire choice also depends on the wheels you have w/ 8.5 & 10 x18 234/40 or 245/40 front and 275/35 rear NT01 is a great choice, you sacrifice some ultimate grip but get terrific life
I agree w/ the comment wrt the oranges, I stopped using them 10 years ago
I looked into Hankook's but they don't have the right sizes for my wheels
some 993 guys do like the blacks, the will have better bite than the 29s but will also use up rotors faster
Lots of good feedback on PFC these days too

What data system? That will pretty much answer everything from where you are, to where you want to go.

Three Wheelin'
Stick with the suggestions for Pagid yellows. I have been a big PFC fan, but recently they seem to have developed some quality issues especially with the PFC08's delaminating. You could try the PFC11's but why bother when you have the choice of the Pagids. There is a lot of recent praise for Ferodo's, but they only make pads that would fit your front calipers. I have big reds and have ordered a set to give them a try since I am done with PFC.

If you have some bucks to waste,
get Michelin PS Cup; terrific grip.
Not really looking for Big Reds, i got Gyrodisks with spacer and Pagid Blacks. Very good combo and it seems the Gyrodisks taking them well; at least much better than the OEM.

For the pads, I like Ferodo DS2500 on my big reds. The are very easy on the rotors and still stree drivable which is something to consider for my use case.
On tires, there is a very wide range but NT01s are my first choice for dry conditions. They are dangerous in the wet.
AD08 and RE11 have good dry grip and can handle some rain. A buddy was driving Hankook RS3 and recently RE71 and he likes them both on his S2000.

Race Car
I use Pagid Yellow (RS29) and Black (RS-14)
I like the black for initial bite over the yellows, the Yellows last a lot longer than the blacks and are easier on the rotors. Both need to be bedded in on a regular basis if I run the car on the street at all.
Like Bill, I haven't run the pagid oranges for years, potentially 15 years
I have also had experience with Endless pads, a little expensive and once my stock of pagids runs out I will be trying some of the Endless compounds.
As for tires, if you are on a trailer, you have many options, all depends on what you want to spend.
The ADO8/RE11/StarSpec type of tire are a great compromise tire, a compromise you don't need to make if you are on a trailer. NT01's as per many are a solid tire, decent grip, decent wear.
t the moment I run hoosires as they have the sizes I want to run 295/245, or 285/245. Not many make this size combo.
