That's a shame.

When I had mine replaced my guy put about 6" of blue painter's tape around to avoid that. I know that doesn't help you now but your guy should have known to do that.

I'd suggest you have the paint work done and send him the bill, don't let him organize the repair. The canvas top will suck up the minutest speck of paint.

Regards,

.

that's bullsh!t man. how could he have NOT taken steps to prevent that? he should agree to receiving the invoice for fixing the paint. however, i don't think it's going to be that straightforward. best of luck!

what did he say when you saw that and said 'WTF dude!?!? AYFK... i just resprayed the entire car!!!'

Apparently he didn't stand up to his responsibility when you picked up the car. If you have already paid him, maybe you can take some measures to hold the funds until this issue is resolved to your satisfaction.

You'd think someone doing this type of work would know to do that.

Actually it gets worse, when I picked up the car on Friday they must have had the doors open etc because the battery was DEAD, and with a jump we got the car running, but with a low battery the TOP will not move, and was about an inch before closing so we ended up undoing the bolts on the top to put it down so I could get it home. He will pay for messing up the paint, but I was completely surprised at this mans incompetence. All the reviews online seemed decent and he said he'd done a lot of tops which ended up being a lie.

Tomorrow I'm going to take it to my mechanic and get the top aligned etc because I really don't trust what he's done. BTW I'm over the problems because everything can be fixed.

However, people in L.A. should avoid Erwins Upholstery in Pasadena.

Hard to believe a pro can be so careless with such a potentially-damaging procedure. Glad he's paying for it, though.

if it is not through the clear coat it can be rubbed out or scratch filled and buffed. Not so big an issue from what I see in your photo.

Pretty typical of the auto service industry nowadays.
