C4 all the way...plenty of bullet proof C4s running around with high mileage and no issues. They're solid cars. Even can be good track cars if you should ever get the itch. I'm a little biased but I like the concept of an awd 911...many will argue the necessity of awd in a rear engine car but that topic is debatable. I love C4s

Options! Which one has more options. The options i would want are abd and an lsd, motor sound, litronics, and hard back seats. Obviously the c4 has lsd and abd, but options should be part of your ranking criteria, so shoukd fun. In my opinion, a c2 is a lot more fun to drive. Its twitchy and playful unlike the c4 which i found to be heavy and locked down at all times.

Lots of threads out there comparing the C2 to the C4. I've owned both and find each has its own rewards. The general consensus unless you intend to track the car is to simply buy the better car. The silver and chestnut brown is a beautiful and unique color combo, and the car has 20,000 fewer miles with some critical maintenance under the belt. Take the C4.

I would review the "said maintenance" for each car and reputation of shops that worked on the car.

Repairing a few valves do not sound like a topend to me. Topend is an all in program like if you are pregnant or not.

That silver/red 993 has to be one of the best looking 993 cabs I've seen; I'd go with that one. If the AWD dynamics are not to your liking, you can always fairly easily disconnect it.

100+ agree on the Chesnut over Silver. It's is a striking looking car. I came very close to buying one twice but the car had too many stories.

Question: which one "lights" you up"?

My c4 has 110,000 miles on it. I have had to attend to my fair share of wear and tear issues on a 20 year old car, but nothing tied to the AWD system.

The weight issue is invisible to me too. A few DE days, auto cross and daily street driving do not challenge the car to the point where a few extra pounds is noticeable.

Since they are cabs and it seems like your not going to be tracking the vehicle, I would go with the better optioned, better condition vehicle. Your not going to notice a huge difference between the C2/C4 drive around town.

C4 would get my vote, based on (limited) info provided.

C2's( & C2S's) are great to drive - but no less so are the AWD cars, especially if 'correctly' set up: I never get all the whaaa whaaa, boo hooo lines about the superiority of C2 vs C4, nor cannot validate the 'excess cost/risk of mtce. of an AWD drive train ..... serious money generally gets dumped into engines or transmissions when something calls unexpectedly .

I'm not sure if I've yet heard of a C2 aficionado who would scoff at owning a TT- and walk away as it has the despicable AWD

the AWD system in the 993 is practically bullet proof. VERY little maintenance and frankly, you don't really notice the difference until you need to notice it! I've driven mine in the snow and the awd works very well. It's heavier and agressive launches lock the wheels to the pavement very well.

Buy the 4- why go through with a top end that could lead to a LOT of other "while you're in there" stuff.

I would pick the C4 for sure, I have a C2 coupe in the same silver and chestnut brown color combo and I love it. I also have a C4 coupe that my wife's car, and the AWD saved her once in the wet when she was trying to keep up to me on a drive, she stepped on the throttle a little too hard coming around a corner, I could see in my rear view mirror that her car went side way for a split second then quickly straighten out when the AWD kicked in. If she was driving my car, she would have probably lost control, I asked her afterward and she said she felt the car going side way then straighten itself out. Plus a C4 Cab is pretty rare I think.

I would also go with the C4. That Arctic Silver/Chestnut color combination is fantastic.

I'd take the C4 for the following reasons:

1. Less mileage
2. Color combo
3. Doesn't surprise me that oil use is low - these are solid engines. SAI port cleaning done.
4. Desirable modifications - Turbo bumper without bumperettes, clears, wheels, CDR-220 ect...
5. 993 AWD system is reliable.

That being said, the area red looks really nice and you can't go wrong with a C2 manual.

Let us know what you choose!

Buy the previous owner as well. This case C4. And since you are going Cab anyway--C4 is the answer.

That silver/chestnut is such a beautiful combo...nice euro front bumper...no bumperettes.

Having said that, the oil usage on the arena red cab isn't beyond acceptable. Does it have a CEL, flagged codes that lead someone to believ it needs a top end?

My vote is still the silver/chestnut C4. Best of luck.
