Pulled off the front bumper cover and fixed the rubber welting which was crooked since I first bought the car 6 years ago. Very satisfying.

Last night around 10 pm, after some family friends left after dinner, my ten-year old daughter asks if we "can go for a drive." Ok, I said, and then two other sisters (8 and 12) joined her, so the four of us went out for a night-time drive in the 993 and I got to exercise its legs after not driving it for a few weeks. Of course, it wasn't long before the two younger ones were asleep, but when we got home, an hour later, they both said they wanted to do it again. Ok, I won't argue if my daughters want to go out for a night-time drive in a 993. Smiles all around.

BTW, @jlaa, I LOVE Aventura Green. Bravo. It’s a great color I first saw on a Porsche in Germany a few years ago.

My three girls (9, 6, and 4) also love to ride in what they called the "silver" car (they don't really know Porsche yet). I tried to take them out when I can before they get too big to fit in the back seats.

Awesome....such a great feeling as a dad. As they get older, it gets harder to find bonding moments, making memories. My 12 yr old daughter has been doing the same the last 2 years. I love it....I let her work the playlist on Spotify , shift the gears, etc.

Ah, the stories of kids in the p-car brings back great memories...

Last summer my 20 yo son went downtown on the c-train (light rail transit) to a political party event with a couple of longtime scouting friends. Later that evening I get the call, “can you come pick me up at the train station” which is a couple of kilometres from the house. I had just detailed the 993 and decided this was a perfect opportunity to enjoy a short jaunt and some bonding time with my son, so off i went.

What he had failed to mention, was was that his two buddies had accompanied him so he could drive them home when they reached our place, as they lived nowhere near the train route. They were as shocked to see me pull up in the 993 as i was to see the three of them, strapping young men all well over 6 feet tall.

Somehow his two buds managed to shoehorn themselves into the back seat - i would not have believed such a thing possible - and my son, the tallest at 6’5” - rode shotgun, with the seat pulled forward and recline set upright to give the unfortunate rear seat pretzels, i mean passengers, a bit of room. Needless to say the trip home although short was exceedingly uncomfortable for all concerned.

Several years my two sons grew to over 6’ and my spouse has refused to entertain the idea of riding in the back, so I thought that my days of having 4 people in the car were long gone.

Just shows how wrong you can be.

I’m teaching my 15 year old daughter to drive almost exclusively in a Subaru STI, but the 993 with its loud exhaust and light weight flywheel has intimidated her. Despite her protests we went for a drive last week. After starting in a parking lot she graduated quickly to a quiet, curvy backroad. The highlight was when I told her to show me 45mph in second gear. She tentatively eased into the throttle and as the revs built, started to smile in spite of herself. After slowing she asked me excitedly, “Can we do that again?”

so we did.

Something I did for my 993 more than with my 993. I added some LED tape lights to the underside of the parking lift under which she sits. It really nicely fills in the dark shadow that was cast by the lift platform in my otherwise well lit garage. I like it a lot.
