Looking for a Daily Driver

Wow, thank you for all the info. I guess I was delusional about a 993. I just thought one with high mileage, over 120k, rough paint and not properly maintain would be in that range. I don't mind putting 10k into it, maybe I should of mentioned that.
I know this is the 993 forum but what about the 80's and early 90's 911's. Is it possible to pick one up in the above condition and drive it 10 miles a day from April to October?
Sorry if this isn't the proper forum for this question. Again, I appreciate the info.

I think what everyone is saying is to get a car that is reliable as a DD should... or must be, a cheap air cooled 911 is no longer cheap. The newest of these cars are pushing 20 years old and the cheap examples will almost definitely have a long list of deferred maintenance. There are many solid examples out there but most are owned by people that know what they have and prize them highly.($$$) Have you actually driven one? I have both an '85 3.2 and a '96 993, and they are quite far apart as far as offering creature comforts and driving characteristics. The 3.2 has no power steering, cable clutch, torsion bar suspension, no real A/C ....and I love it, but it's not the same type of car the water cooled 911's have become. The 3.2 is noisy, rough and thoroughly engaging....the 996 is polished, comfortable and comparatively easy to drive. Doesn't even have the "strange" pedals of the earlier generations. Anyway, I'd advise you to do a little driving before you buy. Cheers

If it will be your only car and you need bullet proof reliability, then $25k for an air cooled Porsche may be difficult to find. But if you are looking for a "mainly" DD air cooled Porsche and you are looking to spend $25K you could still get into an SC.

For a daily driver in your price range you cannot beat a 996. I just bought mine...a 2000 MY one owner cab, 45,000 miles, serviced by the same Porsche dealer for all 16+ years of life, including recent water pump, motor mounts and a/o separator plus all the usual stuff, brakes at 80%, blah blah blah for $22k. Most of the cars I looked at under $20k were going to cost $25k when you started doing all the deferred maintanence. But I saw several very nice cars between $20k and $25k.
Drives great, no complaints, feels every bit a Porsche 911.

No chance a 993 goes for 25 k-'and if you found one- why would you want it? You'd immediately put that much into it. 996 is possible but seriously if this is your budget I'd go hunting for a top shelf 944 or another breed. For a DD you want a well maintained car and 25 k 911s will have issues -'even a 996 may have ims failure issues.
