Default OT: Hummer strikes!

Think GM finally has its act together and is at the top of its game?
Think Jeep and Ford are sweating? Think Porsche is competing against GM Hummer?
Check out this fast 25 second video I found.....

He posts on the Hummer board - he popped a tie rod end (I think) - it could happen to anyone in any vehicle.

The Hummer is a lot tougher than the Cayenne is so I wouldn't use this video as some sort of Porsche marketing tool.

Porsche did compete against the Hummer for my money....and they won. Still, I certainly would be happy to have an H2 in my garage.

That is the most gawdawful trail I have ever seen--I can't believe H2 owners think that is offroading and that he broke his tie rod on those pebbles. I had a LR D90 before my Porsche (sure wish I could own both but I'm much happier now) with 3" of lift and 35" tires and about $10,000 in modifications that could have gone up that trail backwards at 10 mph. Heck, even a stock Jeep could tackle that.

As the video shows, it was the application of too much power that caused the break.

It would have happened to any vehicle under those circumstances.

Off-roading is all about the gentle application of power...coaxing the vehicle over obstacles. Flooring the gas pedal is the fastest way to break something.

Technique, not power, get you up and over.
