Kim,
Thanks for the fender specs. I was surprised your heights were what they were. I would have suspected them to be even lower at almost 24" or so; but that was just a gut feeling.
Good luck up at Custom Alignment. It's a pain that you have to go out of town but it looks like you have no choice.
It will all be worth it in the end!
Good Luck <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

Kim,
Thanks for the specifics on how to find the bolts. I have been lazy and relying too much on fender height.

From what I can tell they DO vary more than I would have originally thought. By my unexacting method I would have had you nearly an inch lower.

Now that I know exactly where to find the bolts I will check them on my car and then make an accurate real world comparison.

I have a nice metal ruler with very good inch and metric markings that I will use. It is a foot long so it may not fit under there. If it doesn't fit it will soon be a 6" ruler. I got two for a buck at the dollar store, so for .50 cents I will gladly divide it by two.

The alignment problem is interference with the optical heads or someother parts of the alignment aparatus (brand of equipment) with lowered 911s.

Basically, the lowered cars front bumpre cover usually blocks the toe or other optical measurement as its too low. You just have to find another qualified shop with differnt equipemnt that works around these problems or isnt affacted by a lowered car.

You can also measure front toe with a tapemeasure and get around the problem. People align superlowered racecars and streetcars all the time.........just find someone that has the equipment to do the car. Dont raise the car for the aligment. You could remove the front bumper cover.

Kim,
Thanks MUCH for posting the pictures!
I love pictures.

They will also serve as a nice help in future archive searches by others.

Kim,
The trip "over-the-hill" to CA is definately worth it. They've even got a tame rental car office very close by if you have a longer job.
I commute from Santa Cruz to SJ and SF, so e-mail me if I can help out with a ride or something.

Nice Kim! Glad to hear that your install went ok. The car looks great and I'm happy to see you went with the RS ride heights. Look at you with your new seats, new suspension, harnesses, and bars. Got yourself one hell of track car! Let me know if Custom Alignment ends up maxing out the adjustments on the Kinematic Toe. I guess Pasha was saying that the standard 993 lowered to RS heights will most likely be close to maxing out the adjustment.

See ya!

Steve
