right?! what a joke, you're within like $500 of a mid rise lift at that price (for a pair)!
and its prob easier to store the midrise since you park over it

I saw these a while back and the price is absurd. Arguably you only need one pair for the rear and be able to raise only each side in the rear once while placing reg. stands in the front.

There are many positive threads about Jackpoint Jackstands and many comments about how ridiculous the price is. I can't argue - they are expensive. Unfortunately we haven't yet figured out a way to make them cheaper while keeping them as strong as they are and US made. The opportunity to make them off shore offered a 30% reduction in basic costs, but the net savings after shipping, storage, cost of money ($750k for the first batch), reduced the net savings about 15%. I didn't think it was worth it for switching production from Illinois to China.
I also know there are many options out there for supporting your car and we appreciate the positive comments and the criticisms. In the end - they are expensive to make. Most foundries we've approached quoted more than $300/pair to make them. Every time I look at a $60 jack I think - "these jack stands shouldn't be this expensive". Believe me we have looked and continue to look for less expensive sources or methods. Then again - I wouldn't put 10,000 lbs. on a $60 jack. We put that much test weight on single Jackpoint jack stands in test facilities and don't bend them at all. It's a bit of overbuilding, but we do it for ANSI rating purposes*. No criticism to any other product - even stumps. These are one alternative. As soon as we figure out a way to make them cheaper - but still as strong - we'll reduce the price.

*ANSI rating requires a jack stand pair rated at 4000 lbs. must support 1.5 times the total rated weight on a single jack stand or 6000 lbs. As part of our testing we load a single stand at 6000 lbs, 8000 lbs., and 10,000 lbs. Please don't try this at home! The image below is at the test facility at 10,000 lbs. We don't sell the test stands.

Jackstands are so "20th Century". Haven't used one in probably 12 years. But, I guess if you have to go this route, these look ok.

Not for everyone, but it looks like you guys care about what you're doing. Good luck, and thanks for keeping manufacturing in the US.

Absolutely!!!! Thanks for keeping your manufacturing integrity. Could've easily sourced Chinese, Indonesian, Mexican.......
But you'd find problems, at some point, and probably the most in opportune moment. Wait about 5,7-10 years, and see what becomes of all of our domestic auto makers, when the Chinese sourced parts start failing miserably. Just hope the Germans don't jump on that bandwagon.
