Default Factory Fuchs on 993?

Hi All,

Wheels and offsets have always been black magic to me. I have a set of factory Fuchs wheels from my 3.2L Carrera. Can those mount directly on my 993 WB without issue?

Thanks in advance for advising this n00b.

I don't think 16" wheels are going to fit over your c4s big brake calipers.

Thanks, all.

The real end goal here was to put a set of snow tires on the 993. I happen to have new-ish snow tires mounted to the old Fuchs, so I was hoping that would work. So much for that!

16" Fuchs are finicky in terms of brake clearance. I don't think they'd even fit over 928 S4 brakes, let alone your 993's much bigger calipers.

Disregarding brake caliper clearance: Generally speaking, wheels from a G-model or earlier 911 (or early 944) won't fit later Porsches (all 928, late 944, 968, 911 series after 964, boxster-cayman etc. etc.). The offset was changed to allow the addition of ABS-ready hubs.

Offset diagram to help your understanding:

Some (rough) measurements that can be understood with the help of the above diagram:

G-model 911s run roughly 16-23mm positive offset.
964 (and later) 911s run roughly 52-60mm positive offset.

^Both those measurements are kind of average. There are extreme cases that are outside those brackets of course, such as WB cars and early narrow 911s, etc.
