Turbo tail on narrow carrera..Yes or no?
I am considering doing a "turbo look" on my 993 carrera (narrowbody/standard). I am concerned as to if the tail will be overwhelming to the narrowbody. I have heard from others the turbo tail is faily large and is much more visually balanced onthe widebody. But, I am not willing to add flairs, so if this is true I won't even start thr process. I don't know of a 993 turbo in the area, so I can't do a side by side comparison w/ mine. any ideas??

Tk, go to Robin's site where he has fixed the turbo tail to his narrowbody 993. To see the entire 993 evolution details go HERE and click on subsequent page links. Hope this helps.

I see Mr. P-Car's (Robin) 993 all the time. It looks great. Everyone who sees it thinks it is a turbo. It fools you into thinking you are looking at a widebody.

Here's a picture of my car with Turbo wing. IMO, it made the car look like a wide-body.
Peace!

Ron,
Would you mind posting some add'l pictures? Especially side views - I'm thinking about putting a wing on my cab and it would be very helpful to see more of your car.
If it's easier, you can email pictures to me at rfairweather@indy.rr.com.
Thanks much.

THanks for all this great info and links!! Now that I have looked at the photos it seems maybe the widebody will look wierd?? The turbo tail looks really good on those cars. Kinda like the club and RS too. Anyone have photoshop and get a side-by-side comparison of the wide and narrow w/ turbo wing from same angle/perspective??

Silver,
A widebody 993 looks best without any added spoilers. I wouldn't add anything to those graceful lines.

Silver,
-- I actually know of real RSCS owners who did away with the CS type tail for the RS (simpler) version.
-- And personally if I had a 993 widebody, I would save my money and not get a wing. When I first bought my turbo, I was not too fond of the rear wing. It looks HUGE (too much) but in time I have become used to it and like the look especially from the side. BUT I would still never get it on a non-turbo car (was at one point looking for a C4S with no aerokit but with sport susp. and sport seats. All the best whatever you decide to do. Ebay seems to often have sales on such popular add on items.
-- given that your name is "Silver Bullet", if I presume that you have a silver widebody, then everytime you get seduced by other pics, you should simply go to "Suwipin's" site for pics of what is basically your car too. Beautiful pics. How about that as a cost effective alternative. Enjoy

Kim,
Don't see why the RS spoiler shouldn't look good on a widebody. The original '76 930 had a similar wing. IMHO, it looked great. Only on later models did the size of the intercooler become a problem so that a more massive spoiler was needed. Wing or no wing, just a matter of taste, though, I am glad to have it because the tray spoiler is not as effective in reducing the lift coefficient front and rear. Remember it is primarily an aerodynamic factor, not a styling factor.

Just remembered someone posted a picture of the RS and TT tails side-by-side. Just can't find it anymore (like looking for a needle in a haystack, when you do not know the search text). Whoever, it was, could you repost here?

IMO, both RS wing on a widebody or Turbo wing on a narrow body would propably look good (at least Robin's car looks great) but I'd rather do something that could be 'real'. I mean, you can only get RS wing with RS (which only came out as an narrowbody if I'm correct) etc. by doing that your car looks 'original'. Of course that doesn't mean 'wrong' wing doesn't look good on a 'wrong' car, just my honest opinion.
