^ just luck, the 993 was introduced the year I graduated from high school and was always a dream car I hoped to own one day. Took delivery 6 days before my first child was born. This one is a keeper and my wife loves the car as much as I do :)

In 2012-2013 I "lost" two cabs while arranging a PPI, with 20K and 24K miles, both at $40K to dealers. I'd say the prices started getting sillier in 2012-2013. Bought a 32K miles cab for $42 last year. Ill-cared-for aesthetic POS, but California car and sound with no rust, few owners and clean CarFax.

I haven't posted here in years. But for some odd reason I'm here enjoying Rennlist again on a rainy day here in the San Francisco Bay area, avoiding getting the house ready for our dinner party tonight .
I remember when I first bought my C4S in 2005 and used to come here to Rennlist constantly. I still have it, won't sell it but just wanted to share that back in 2005-07 there were many many Rennlisters who used to say that there were just too many of these 993's sold for this car to ever become a "collectable" car.... I didn't believe it then and it's satisfying to see what's happened in the last 4 or 5 years. The 993 has in fact very much become a "collectable" car. And it's still fun to drive and has been, knock on wood, a very reliable car as well. |

Worn motor mounts. Re build/replace shifter and linkage. Re build pedal assembly. Replace window switches 4 times a year. Replace front and rear bushings, Uprights and springs. I bought my 993 a little over a year ago. If the truth be known I felt the bottom was going to fall out of the CDN$. I bought a car that had spent most of it's life in Hawaii and needed to have the normal 993 defered maintenance addressed such as shocks, clutch, bushings, spoiler drive and wall, etc...etc. None of the bigger ticket items were a surprise but they do add up quickly! Evaluating what you are actually getting when purchasing, becomes very important. Just because a car presents well, don't think you're necessarily done....in all likelihood your not. From what I saw, many of them need much $ spent to bring them to fully operational (Porsche performance) state. Today you may find a 35$K (US) car but I'd be pretty positive that it requires a good injection of cash to get it up to snuff. Cheers and Merry Christmas to all.

yeah I agree -- the dollar is a real killer for Canadians right now, but great for Americans. Who would've thought -- that we be at a 40% discount to the American dollar, when the CDN dollar was worth 10% more than the USD only a few years ago.
Im starting to see a lot of local cars being sold priced in US dollars in Canada -- 993's 997's predominately. It is super tough to find a Canadian 993 nowadays because most of them went down south in the late 90's early '00's. --although Canadian vs US 993 doesn't matter to me too much in the overall assessment of the vehicle. |

Why would it matter one way or another if the car is US or CDN. Aside from the speedo, what's the dif? I remember when Segal Motors had 993 inventory and they would specifically be noted as Canadian cars. |

But my Answer and I am biting my tongue is Perhaps Emissions C36 Cdn Market car with C02 I believe Remainder of USA States likely ???? with C02 C01 California Emissions Although my car was delivered in California with C02. |
I bought my c2 with 60k on it in 2010 for 27.5k. At the time the wide body's we're going for about 10 more.

Speedo in km only, daytime running lights, and anchors for child seats in the back seats (seriously). Sold it in '13 in $cdn when it was close to par. Got a '04 GT3 as I wanted a more track focused car. Sold that this year priced in $usd but sold locally. Got a vintage FF to wrench and race in my retirement, oh and '10 Boxster for my wife. I broken even on the 993 covering my purchase and updates and maintenance. Broke even on the GT3 including all the above and the cost of 10 track days. Jim |

Sure glad I bought mine when I did( 2013), I was scanning the prices for a while and had noticed that they had started climbing. Got a Canadian car for Canadian use...which is not a lot with all the snow we get:banghead:
Still, 34k CAN for a 53k miles car with all original paint... won't see that around anytime soon:rolleyes: |
