Do you guys put a bra on? Tape the front? 3M covering?

I used to but haven't in years. I find driving on the streets in this area is 20X worse than the track for stone chips. They don't put out debris flags on the street. I also think that over time bras do more damage than good; however, others disagree.

The key is watching for the debris flags and asking people coming off how the track conditions are. Just be cautious in those sections. I'm also assuming you're talking about DE's and not club racing.

You'll also find tons of discussions on this topic via the "search".

You are correct Vinny. Just DE's.

Normally I search achives first but I guess I didn't think I'd find anything.

Thanks. Marcus.

The front's not a big deal unless you want to keep concours appearance. However, it's a good idea to tape the wheel wells behind the tires. I don't do this and as a result the paint on the forward facing surface behind each tire is literally sandblasted away. It's not terribly visible unless your looking closely but the paint damage is pretty significant.

I ran "braless" last time at thunderhill and everythign was fine.

Although I'd put tape on the wheel wells next time. Mostly for ease of cleaning the car afterwards. There were tons of black rubber streaks everywhere.

World's worst track for stone chips (in my self-centered view): Putnam Park

Large stone gravel in the paddock, which all the R Compound tires carry to pit out.

As you enter the track in line, it sounds like an Uzi spraying your car (don't ask me how I know what that sounds like)

I tape all the lenses, and otherwise figure it's a race car. Have not had much of a problem with chips on the Funhawg at other tracks. I get more scratches and chips on the street.

WOW! I never would have thought about the wheel wells. I assuming painters tape is sufficient.

Thanks!

How about Track Skins? They look like they would protect pretty well and come off easilly.

I used to use a bra. But then I started getting lazy and stopped using one. End result = more stone chips from the Streets of Willow. I also used the mirror bras, as well as having the lights taped.

I have Xpel clear film on my front nose and on my wheel wells edges front and rear. It's a ready made kit-cheap and easy to install. Works great!

Xpel

Pic of the front here:It's two pieces.

Rear:Almost invisible, but it runs the whole length of the lower edge.

Btw, I'm getting ready to install those pieces that Brad mentioned soon. Too bad the PO didn't do it before it got all scratched up.

Anyone know the difference between xpel and invinca-shield (besides the price)?

Both appear to be 3M films.

My weekend install on invinca-shield for the bumper was a disaster. I though the cut wasn't perfect (i.e. slightly too big) but they claim that their products are an exact match. Still waiting for the tech support guy to call me back.

Is racing tape the same as gaffer's tape the photographers use? Sort of like duct tape but without the sticky disaster it leaves behind?

Or is racing tape different?
