Default 993s and Honeymoons

I stumbled upon this article about a couple taking a 7-week road-trip honeymoon through Europe in a Porsche 993, and I figured others might enjoy reading it as well:

As many of you know I was married last July and took my sweetheart on a mini-honeymoon in my 993 through central California. Now we're planning our real honeymoon trip to Europe sans-993. So this article defintely strikes a cord with me.

To add to the weirdness, I own the same VW-bus inspired North Face tent as the couple in this article...

Cool!

We did our honeymoon with my 993 back in 2009. Drove 3500km around the coast of arctic ocean.

It could well be my driving, but I was under the impression that our cars are not that much fun to be a passenger in.

Wouldn't know.....or care...LOL. I'd read the Euro honeymoon story before going on my little trip. My wife and I did a 3500km camping trip in the 993 early spring last year. The drive was down the west coast as far as Big Sur. Lotsa fun, like backpacking on four wheels. It is amazing how well the car behaves loaded down (PSS9's) in comparison to my 85 loaded down. Juha, your trip sounds amazing! In our country most northern areas are not serviced by 993 friendly roads! Cheers

I don't see my self driving a 993 for long trips, not even mention the poor passenger with their legs. Maybe I'm just bit taller than most out there and that's why I see the idea from this perception.

Otherwsie good luck and have a blast when the times comes!

How tall are you? I'm six foot tall (185 cm) and I find both my 911 and my 993 very comfortable for long distances, definitely noisy, but comfortable. I've done many >1000km days. Cheers

I'm not much taller than you but still, I'm 6.33" or 1.93 meters and legs are the main problem...I barely fit in these cars :/

From the passenger perspective, it's not only the legroom, is it? The suspension can be a little harsh and the braking, shifting and acceleration jerky, which is fine for the driver who is "in the moment" and expecting the response, but not so comfortable for the passenger. I'm speaking from experience, which is probably just a reflection on my driving.
