PPI in Southern CA
I've gotten some great advice on the forums and after missing another great car that is pending sale (Foxmans nice C4), I am on to another he recommended I take a look at.
The current owner is taking delivery in a GT3 in Beverly Hills and suggested he bring the car to the dealer for the PPI. Is this the best place or are there any recommendations I can call to have it done?
Thanks!

Redline Service (at Robertson and the 10 freeway) was recommended to me by other RLers when I was looking for my 993. Never got the chance to use them thought. If you can make it out to Pasadena area, I would recommend StuttCar Service on Walnut St. Brought my 98 C4S there to have some work done and the owner Peter is really honest and does good work!
Porsche dealers won't typically have a mechanic on staff who knows air cooled cars like the 993. I'd go with a shop that specializes in older Porsches.
I used TRE Motorsports in Van Nuys for the PPI on my 993 and was pleased. That was several years back, however, so you may want to ask around to see if anyone has used them more recently.

Another HUGE endorsement for Peter at StuttCar Service. He is my 993 guy. I would stay away from dealerships. All the air cooled guys have seemed to gone independent. And it has been my personal experience that dealerships have a real problem with being honest.
The seller recommended theses places:
Swiss Motors:
http://www.swissmotors.com/
Dutch Treat:
http://www.dutchtreat.org/dutch/Welcome.html
Pacific Sports Cars:
http://www.pacificsportscars.com/aboutus.html
Anyone have thoughts about any of theses?

BOBOYDDS,
You are asking all the right questions.
However, when Rennlist has a HUGE PRESENCE, like in Southern California, I would go with those here rather than the sellers recommendation if they are different. I can tell you that Pasadena is a Porsche Indy hotspots itch 3 Indy's I have experience with.
The one thing, Peter at StuttCar was a dealer mechanic in Hungry before coming here and was trained on fixing the 993 at the Porsche factory. Before going to Peter I kept throwing CELs all the time. Yet now, only very occasionally. And passing smog checks are not as stressful. Redline is a good group as well. When you get the report let us know I know we, as a 993 group are courious. Also post a pic when you get this one or other. Good luck.

Thanks for the help!
The car is in Manhattan beach and he has had all the recommended service from the dealer done at Beverly Hills Porsche since he bought from original owner in 2004 and 78k miles. Now has 124k miles, mechanically as far as he knows it's great but does show wear cosmetically. Hopefully he will agree to go to one of my recommendations that I got from Rennlist. He is a PCA member and speaking to him seems honest about the car but there may be problems he isn't aware of.
I'll keep you posted if we can agree on a place for the PPI. I haven't seen in person yet since I'm in San Jose ca and can't get a free day to make the 6 hour trip.
