Default New (to me) 1997 C2S

The 8th (and probably not my last) 993 purchase.

A 1997 C2S Arctic Silver on black from a fellow Rennlister....thanks Mike for an easy transaction!. Really was a one owner car; 99% of the miles and ownership time belonged to the original owner.

Very well maintained with all of the service records. Needs some cosmetic TLC but more than good enough as a daily driver. PO had a new windshield installed before I picked it up and other than new Bilsteins everything is stock. Even the keys are the switchblade type and both in perfect working condition.

Picked it up in S. FL on Sunday and put about 2700 miles on it en route to CT. Great handling and performance for a car with over 178,000 miles on it. Monitored oil consumption carefully and had no visible changes in the readings on the interior guage or dipstick. I passed the 181,000 mile mark just before pulling into the CT driveway.

Driven over 100K miles in 993s and have had a 20K mile one that didn't feel much different in terms of handling, clutch feel or gearbox. A big fan of the Cup II's over the Turbo Hollow spokes when it comes to ride. For aesthetics however the looks of TT wheels have it though. The car was lowered when the Bilsteins went on, but a bit too low for the NE roadways!. You know you're getting old when concerned about ride and comfort!

Caught some road debris on i95 just outside of Jacksonville that cut one of the front tire walls, ended with a new set of Sumitomo HTR Zs that were sufficient for the remainder of the trip. Was a little nervous about using the spare that sat in place unused since new, but it did the trick for the 15 mile ride to the tire shop.

Really wanted Arctic Silver on Red but the rarity and price proved to be too elusive. Planning to redo the interior in red at some point, if anyone knows of a part-out, looking for some seats and interior panels. But for now, just going to drive it and take care of a few minor mechanical, cosmetic and wear and tear things.

Glad to be back into the 993 fold!

I'll post more photos later.

Congrats. And I'll put you on the watch list to stay away from my car--unless you find a project 2.2 or 2.4S that would basically be an even trade.

Wow! Sweet car Bart. Congrats!!! I was looking for silver/red too, but ended up settling for silver/marble grey/black. I have to say it's grown on me over the past 9 years!

Congrats! I also just picked up an arctic silver 98 C4S with almost 140k on the clock. First P-Car and really enjoying it!

Very nice car Bart! One just keeps coming back. It's an addiction I tell you.

Pic of your sold cars when my brother bought your 95 C2 and my TT.

Very nice car and one that clearly will be driven! Curious how big the spacers are on the rear to run those Cup IIs

Very nice! Great to see yet another rare silver C2S here in New England. Hope to see you on the road soon.

Default 181k

I do believe that they tend to run better and stronger with use/mileage as long as maintained along the way.

In the words of Donald Grump...huge...31mm huge. Swapping to 18" wheels with correct offsets would be my first mod.

Thanks guys, reading all of the posts in the 993 group over the years is certainly a factor in deciding to have one in my garage!

"Swapping to 18" wheels with correct offsets would be my first mod"

I'll get a set of the hollow spoke wheels and have them colored hypersilber unless someone with a Turbo S wants to swap out the real deal for a nice set of Cup II's Also considering going outlaw with a set of those new Fuchs by Fuchsfelge

"Congrats Bart. What's this, your 10th silver 993"

6th silver 993 WB....7th if you include the '97 C2S that I bought, sold, bought back and sold again. Serious case of untreated OCD here.

"Congrats Bart. Sounds like your kid has some work to do....

Still hoping to get my Arctic/Boxster C4S back one of these days"

Still remember the day and phone converstaion when you gave me a great offer to buy that C4S! No way that car was going to anyone else other than the guy you ultimately sold it to, even if I had to buy it for him. You'll get it back. Karma has a way of paying things forward.

"Very nice car Bart! One just keeps coming back. It's an addiction I tell you.

Thanks Chao. Very much an addiction, but much easier on the body than drugs and lighter on the wallet than a mistress!! That black '95 with the CF accents was one of my favorite NB 993's. Only problem was the color . Come on up to CT anytime, they just laid down some new asphalt around the twisty turny reservoir by my house!

"Very nice. Maybe I'll see you on the roads - I'm in CT also"

I'm in Central CT, i84 near exit 32 if you're ever in the area, stop in. Driving all year. Save for those days when I can't get down my driveway because of the snow!

"2,700 miles from FL to CT; did you take a wrong left turn along the way"

Ha ha. Yes, went left, right, up, down and back tracked some. i95 is far too boring for a road trip in a 993 from FL to CT! And yes some drinking occurred along the way. My co-pilot introduced me to Basil Hayden's. I want to move to Louisville now

"Congrats. And I'll put you on the watch list to stay away from my car--unless you find a project 2.2 or 2.4S that would basically be an even trade."

I gave up waiting for you to post that your knees and hips can no longer handle the clutch on your C4S so it was time to sell!
