what does PU stand for?

I have no idea what it stands for but it is what they call the front and rear "bumper" pieces (the painted bits). I think it's some kind of polythene something or other?

Based upon the year I lived in London, I would have thought it was an abbreviation for a cockney accented "**** uff". Shows what I know! <img src="graemlins/bigok.gif" border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" />

The term you may be referring to is PU-Rim which stands for Polyurethane-Reaction Injection Molding. A material widely used in dashboard and other interior panels as well as bumper covers among many other things.
