I would def skip renting a porsche. You can just go to a dealer in US and talk them into 24 hour test drive. While autobahns are cool in theory, you won't be going much more that 100-120mph for the most part assuming you are lucky not to have traffic and construction.
While in P-car museum def get the audio guide and spend some time with early (pre-porsche) cars - really cool history there.
Ring would be on my list any time I'm in germany, that place is cool even if you don't drive. Ring taxi is fun. Renting own car on busy weekend is a bit scary at first on the ring.
Finished the factory tour. It was great. We've had lunch and are now waiting for our museum tour to start. In the meantime look what rolled up in front of the museum...
