Default Mobil1 green cap or red

quick question. I use mobil1 Red cap in my racing
bikes because it does not have friction modifiers
in it. The trannys are in the same oil as the motor
and the green cap can cause clutch problems.
So what do we put in the 993's Green with
the friction modifiers? or red with out?

I think racing bikes have a wet cluth. I understand that if you use the green is causes clutch slippage at higher temp´s. So for cars the red cap is better since transmission oil and cylinder oil are seperate. I bet there are a lot of oil experts here who can jump in.

From everything I've read, and the oil viscosity debate goes on and on like the energizer bunny...

15W-50 (Red) Highly recommended.
10W-30 (Green) Next most popular choice.
0W-40 (Black?) If it is very cold, under freezing.

Also, discussions of mixing two different viscosities, tons of posts here to research...

For your climate in CA I bet you could run the Red Cap all year long, no problems.

OG
Mobil 1 uses cap color coding to distinguish between different viscosities. Thus, as you discovered, all bottles of 15W50 M1 have a red cap. From the M1 website I see no other formulation differences between the color caps.

Dan
that occured to me too. I have been using red cap for
so long in my motocross bikes I forgot
that is a cahnge in vicosity as well as the
friction modifiers.

OG:

My advice is for 15w-50 (red cap) for all 993's.

You & your engine will be much happier with this stuff,...
