Default Clock/Dash Re-Install Question

First time removing the clock today (or any instrument for that matter.) There is a black tape(?) still attached to the dash (see picture.) Should I remove this when re-installing the clock? This "tape" sits between the dash and the rubber housing on my clock.
I am not sure if the previous owner added it or if 993's simply come this way...

I don’t have tape on mine. Maybe it was added if the instrument was loose...

Same here, maybe because of your carbon fiber dash

Default Odd Finding

What is odd is that my 993 came original with the Aero Kit II Spoilers/Rockers (Option Code Y02), but as you can see from this picture, the rear spoiler warning light has been removed and electrical tape put over it. Maybe it came that way from the factory, but I wouldn't think they disable the warning light in that manner????
I was simply trying to replace some bulbs that appeared to be out in my clock. However as I installed an OEM beige/yellow bulb that I know works in 1 of the 2 slots--the bulb would not light up. The bulb lights up fine in the other slot. Some of the green backed bulbs don't work that are near the beige/yellow bulb that doesn't work. I was wondering if the rear spoiler light which is empty/electrical tape over it is causing those other bulb positions to not work...?
Or is everyone's stock clock (no LEDs) very dim and dark in corners even with new stock bulbs?

FWIW: I have a Turbo S tail on a car that came with NB spoiler. There is spoiler and yet the warning light came on sometimes. Taking bulb out and taping over is not a cause for alarm. OTOH, stick a bulb in and see what happens.

Also, it is possible to disable the rear spoiler by removing contacts from the unit in the passenger foot well. This, too, may have been done.

Given this was a factory option, I would have thought this would have been their preferred method and not simply remove the bulb and replace with electrical tape.
Any idea if the lack of bulb/electrical tape is causing the other bulbs to not work? (I confirmed the bulbs can light up if placed in a different location..)

I have a factory aero kit on my Carrera. All bulbs present, no taped over socket.
The extra tape to hold the clock in was probably added at the time of the carbon fiber addition possibly when the black standard vinyl was removed from wrapping around the hole the clock fit became a little loose.

Is your rear spoiler warning light disabled via removing the contacts from the unit under the passenger foot well? And does your clock light up well?

Clock illumination comes from the two yellow bulbs. The gray bulbs are warning light positions.

Agreed, thank you. The empty yellow bulb socket in the picture is not working (as are a few of the green/grey ones.)
