Post Immobiliser problems!

Hi there, I have a German import 993 RS in the UK,and what started out as an intermittent fault is know permanent,( car won't start!).It is fitted with the Euro Drive block immobiliser, which is activated by a sender unit not on the car key.
Does this system have any known common faults or fixes??
My poor car is stuck out in the rain at my place of work!
Thanks people...

Have you attempted the emergency overide procedure using the four digit code suppied with the car and then resetting the remote sender.Full instructions given in the manual for the car.Best of luck in recovering it.

Good advise - I need to find the "key code" for my car in case this ever happens to me, PO could not locate it <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" /> . Also, you may want to check the battery in your key fob.

I assume the dealer a duplicate "key code" card?

Yes I believe an official Porsche dealer can obtain the code from the VIN subject to proof of ownership.

Am I missing something obvious??

I forgot to add that I seem to remember the RS is different in that it does not have the normal 993 alarm and indications(flashing diodes in the doors)because no central locking.....Why do I never pay attention to these things when they are working fine!!

An early 993 manual may not mention it because I think it was added as an option in MY '96 or '97.

The process is tedious as it involves turning the key on and off in a specific sequence according to the "key code."

Not familiar with the RS but if I remember correctly the immobiliser wasn't covered in the main manual for early cars it was in an insert put near the back of the book. Do you have an immobiliser warning light in your clock just below the 3 marking and just above the fan belt warning light and of course the card giving the 4 digit code?

If so the following procedure may work.

Unlock lock unlock the door with the key within 5 seconds this overides the alarm.
Within 10 seconds turn on ignition - immobiliser warning light on.

Within 100 seconds enter 4 digit code, if above times exceeded alarm will go off.

To enter code - if warning light (immobiliser) is off turn ignition off then on to get the light back.

Light starts to flash after 10 seconds you have another 5 to enter the digit.

Digit is entered by switching ignition on/off,start with left number and repeat process, once you have entered digit wait for warning light to come on before starting the next one.

( 0 = 10 on/offs )

The automatic activation function is not disabled by the manual overide.

You then have 1 minute to reset the remote by keeping the button held down until the light emitting diodes on the doors start flashing ( I know you don't have these so maybe you get another signal?)

If this is of no help sorry it sounds like speaking to your nearest Porsche centre tomorrow.
