What do you guys think of this 993?
I have missed my white 993 cab since I sold it in 2009. It was a tiptronic and I was not a fan of the transmission.
I came across this 1995 993 on eBay. It is an early 993 with a production date of March 1994. It is a repaint. I have emailed the seller with several questions. I would fly out and drive it 3,000 miles back to Los Angeles. One concern is if the engine is a 964. As I recall they some of the early 993s were fitted with the 964 engines.
If the PPI was good what do you think? It has sports seats and some other options I can see.
The car is originally from California and is now in Sherbrooke, QC, Canada.
I want to come home!!

Looks nice in the photos. The price, from my perspective, seems on the low end. Doesn't appear to have had suspension upgrades based on ride height. Quality of repaint would be a big factor but only a first-hand look can assess that.
For that mileage, driver's seat doesn't seem too worn but might benefit from a treatment and redye using Colorplus or Leatherique products.
Perhaps you can find a local Rennlister to take a quick look at the car for you?

Those are the MUCH less desirable 996 sport seats.
I think you are confusing the early 993's with OBD1 vs the later ones with OBD2. I don't believe Porsche put 964 engines in early 993's.

Chuck,
It sure looks nice, but if you move forward, I'd give the paintwork a careful look. Something looks dodgy with the 'Catalyst' decal - almost as if the bodyshop taped over it. Typically a respray will stop where the rear quarter overlaps the inner sheet metal.
Also, the alternator pulley is not the revised version - odd with all of the engine-out work that was mentioned.

I know it says he did a full restore, but I'd be curious to see pictures of the car before the paint. Also it mentions a lot of mechanical, but doesn't mention anything about a top end.
It would be really great to have you back in the fold Chuck! If this one doesn't work out, I wish you luck finding another!!!

After reading the replies (thanks guys), I am going to pass on this one and continue the search. There are too many questions and i don't want to put this on a fellow member to evaluate. I'll find another one out there. I would prefer to buy one from a fellow Rennlist member and enthusiast. Has to be a cab.
There is a beautiful '97 cab in Oregon on Craigslist in Pastel Yellow with 46,000 miles on it. It started out at $59,000 and its down to $55,000 now. I found a listing for it last year for $49,000. If you have very deep pockets there are some nice examples out there.

Chuck, I'm considering putting my Targa on the market. 65K miles, no wrecks, no stories, much loved. Red over tan - 6speed manual. Can send more pics and info if interested.

I like the Pastel Yellow color and there are some good shops in Portland to do a PPI.
Are you a PCA member? There is a 98 C4 Cab for sale by original owner which seems very nice and a 98 Cab also which looks nice.

Very cool color! Looks just like the rare Jasmin Yellow VW Corrado color.
