You could try a little test to further isolate the cause. Remove the outer rubber seal and drive the car and see if the noise is still there.

A few years ago I had a small rust spot repaired on the driver side windshield cowl. Shortly afterwards the new seal squeaked badly. I ended up removing the top of the dashboard and carefully doused under the inner seal and edge of the dash cover with Lexol Vinylex. While in there I made sure all the nuts and screws were tight. The squeal has not come back since. It might be worth a try.

After installing the Porsche Classic Nav Radio, I had a new squeak coming from the center dash and near the windshield. I thought that maybe one of the wires at the back of the head unit was rubbing and creating the squeak.

Removed the HU. Drove around block. Still squeaky.

Removed dash trim closest to windshield. Saw neighbor walking dog for the second time. Still squeaky.

Removed plastic trim under frunk near windshield. Same neighbor gives me an uncomfortable smile and half wave. Squeaky.

Removed entire upper dash. Explained to officer why I am driving increasingly faster through subdivision with a wild look on my face. Still squeaky.

Found I could lift the outside rubber trim around the windshield and spray some synthetic lubricant in the gap. Drove 30 minutes in perfect silence with a satisfied smile on my face.

Got home and found this thread.

Here's the lube I used with success.

I just went through this. Previous owner had already roped the windshield but the squeak was maddening. I removed all the old stuff, cleaned under the outer rubber windshield seal, then re-roped it. Before inserting the rope though, I sprayed the empty cavity with 3M silicone lubricant....and then I sprayed the rope itself with 3M before re-stuffing. So far...so good.

Makemann, glad you got the squeak stopped. When I first got my car I
had the same squeak complaint. Asked a Porsche tech about it and he
quickly solved the problem using this 3M product which I have been using
since. It will eventually wear away and another application will be needed.

Bruce, great write up. Next time I hear that squeak, I'll reference that link. Thanks.

I use a plastic putty knife to lift the windshield rubber as I run along the entire length of it, while trailing with syringe and dispensing at the same time. The product is clear and any excess will ooze out from beneath the seal. I did this in Mar and so far, still so good! Zymol is a high end car care product and I was told not to use any petroleum or solvent based product on the rubber.

This looks great. It's the first thing I notice when I get in and when I shut it down. Obviously the beautiful cacophony of sounds from the engine, tranny, tires etc... drowns out the squeaks but it would be nice to handle it. Your's looks like a great easy fix. Thanks for posting.

I cleaned under my rubber windshield gasket with some Optimum Detailer, then used Optimum Opti-Seal to lube the gasket and coat/protect the paint. That was over a month ago now and no squeaks.

This isn't magic, you can use stuff off your shelf, it's just about lack of paint protection, rubber aging and the rubber gasket movement on the body.

Clean the paint under the gasket, clean the gasket, treat the paint with wax or polymer sealant...and you're good to go.

I'll give it a try should the squeak return. Should I use a fan to dry the lube. ;-)

Totally helpful! Some of the Flint tap water should work also to lube the seals.

For the 3M stuff...Amazon says there is a wet and a dry type. Which did you use?

Never mind. Confirming dry type?

Yes the Dry Type. BTW I just bought another can yesterday at O'Reilly's
for 9.49 + tax. That is the cheapest I've found. They can get it in
24 hours. At least here in L.A.

I recommend using sealant and completely fill the cavity as per TSB 9501 - I did this in 2010, and there have been no squeaks or issues of any kind.

I did ensure there was no rust underneath first.

Do the job once, and do it properly.

Bruce and others, since this 3M is not available locally, could another dry silicone lubricant be used? Something like this, maybe? : http://www.homedepot.com/p/Blaster-5...8-GS/202597501 or http://www.lowes.com/pd/Blaster-9-3-...Teflon/1066849

Something squeaking like crazy on the right side of my cab, Im thinking it's the rubber seal behind or on top of the door window. If I crack the window open, even a tiny bit, the squeak goes away.

Hey Nile13, it's certainly worth a try. I use the 3M on the door and window
seals and it does work for that. One thing to note about removing squeaks,
once you have stopped one squeak a new one may be heard that was being
covered up by the other. One of the worst offenders for me is the empty
passenger seat. I've taken it apart a couple of times and tried to pad pieces
that rub to stop squeaks. Let us know how that other stuff works if you try it.
