Default Control arm bushings

Well I have read all about these bushings failing on Rennlist and now it looks like it may be my turn to replace these parts. I had my car up on jack stands for 3 weeks while doing other work. My car didn't have the shaking symptoms described in the bushing threads before this work but does now. I am assuming the stress placed on these aging rubber bushings with having the suspension fully unloaded and extended may have been the kiss of death. Anyone else have this sudden bushing failure experience? Anyway, I am still reading thru reviews of Walrods vs Elephants and looking forward to having my garage smell like melting rubber. Good times ahead.

I recently sent mine to Elephant for the bushing replacement. Check with them before ordering to make sure they're in stock. I ordered Sport bushings and wasn't told they were back ordered until they already had my control arms, I ended up with Stock bushings in the interest of time.

You can do this job without a shop press, but I don't recommend it. I went with Walrods. I like 'em.

Walrods, and use FDM or Andreas for the "service". Best money you'll spend, far less cursing and frustration.

FDM isn't far from me so maybe I will consider that. I will contact them Monday but any idea what the service runs?

Although I've rebuilt a few dozen sets, I still weave a tapestry of obscenities when my 30-ton press ocassionally struggles to eject a corroded-in-place bushing.

I did the Walrods and like them. Also, if they ever wear out, replacing them will be really simple.

+993

I installed a set shortly after Chris introduced the bushings. No complaints many years and many miles later.

I replaced my control arm bushings with the elephant because I did not want to reuse any parts as you do with warlord. I am not sure if it matters, because you are reusing a metal part that does not wear?? Also I planned on replacing all bushings so I wanted them from the same manufacturer.

I had no symptoms but took car in for alignment and shop would not perform alignment without me replacing all bushings front & rear. So I went all out and even replaced the side panel bushings; which made the most dramatic change in tightening up the back end. If you compare the stock bushings with the new you will know why.

Until you do this with a car that you are familiar with you do not realize what you are missing…highly recommend either RS or Elephant Sport bushings (arms) vs stock.

FWIW I just replaced mine and bought them from Rennline. Specs say they are RS hardness. No issues with the install but now need to get an alignment after also installing PSS-10's

I have two 993 both with Walrods. I have not read anything bad about them and they are competitively priced. Chris' service was stellar, too ...
