Cool bit of Porsche trivia
From Car, October 2003, p. 115:
Reutter Carosserien started building steel bodies for Porsche's 356 in 1951. In 1963, faced with a large investment for the new 911, Reutter sold its body plant to Porsche. Thus, Reutter never built a 911, but 911 drivers retain an intimate connection with the company: Reutter Carosserien shortened its name to Recaro.

If anyone is interested, there is quite a history behind Porsche seats.
Reutter was founded in 1906 in Stuttgart by saddler Wilhelm Reutter. The company produced single-piece production limousines until 1932 when Auto Union hires them to mass produce car bodies (30 units per day). In 1938, they begin production of VW Beetles for Porsche. In 1963, Porsche takes over the body factory leaving the saddlery to Reutter. Reutter changes it's name to Recaro GmbH & Co. and makes vehicle seats for Porsche. In 1969, Reutter sells Recaro to three companies Keiper, Huber & Wagner und Metzeler due to economic problems. In 1983 Keiper KG takes over all Recaro shares and establishes Keiper Recaro GmbH & Co. In 1997, the Keiper group restructures and Recaro GmbH appears as an independent. Since then, Recaro is an aftermarket automobile seat and aircraft seat manufacturer.
Keiper Car Seating of Keiper GmbH & Co. has been a major automotive seating manufacturer for several companies including Porsche. In 1997 Lear Corporation acquires Keiper Car Seating thus becoming the parent company. Recaro GmbH is not part of Lear Corporation and Keiper Car Seating but does on occasion supply optional seats with the Recaro name brand to VAG (VW & Audi) and some other automobile manufacturers.
