Waaaait a second. What am I missing here?
$146K offer on a 993TT that needs a transmission rebuild? A conversation about selling it to dealership B while buying a car from dealership A (thus foregoing about $13K worth of tax offset? Buyer writing a check without a title present? Not that I would say that dealership is not sleazy, but all of that that sounds odd to me. What are the prices on TTs up to right now, especially if transmission rebuild is needed, so it can't be a low mileage example?

Step 1: Advise getting a second opinion, from an air-cooled specialist independent shop on the need for a transmission rebuild on the TT. Simple tactic, "...something expensive to fix is wrong with the vehicle you want to trade in - ergo well below market price offer."

Not trying to talk about $$ here just the way I was treated at McKenna. I thought customer service and satisfaction as well as company reputation come first but I guess $$ is more important for them.

all they need is a picture of title, they should send money, then you hand over car and title.
same as when yuo buy from them. the have mso, you pay, they give you car.
they have 550 million in inventory, they do not have 550million in equity. GM for car dealership are usually not bright. else they will be GM at billion dollar funds.
most (not all ) of them can't really may be able to add or subtract but talking business assets... that's giving them too much credit.
finally mckenna has a "reputation"

Whenever the behavior of a person does not add up we are probably missing a key peice of information. People in general and managers of high end dealerships in specific in most every case act rationally, what are we missing here?

native so. californian here. serviced a couple times at Mckenna & they actually tried to avoid making good on a known cayenne issue that had a pcna service bulletin on (why?). also, over the years have tried to buy two cars there but there was always something... can see why the sales dept. there has such a reputation; top to bottom. best experience to date: hat & watch purchase a few years ago. ha
