Default RS Shift ****

Anyone have any experience, good or bad, with the RS shift ****? This is still available from Porsche for the 993 and looks attractive, but I am interested in how it feels in your hand.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Love it. Very light & minimalistic. Here's a pic from when I purchased the car in 2005:

I liked the way it looked but it was too light, it made it feel cheap so I sold mine. I prefer the shift ***** that have a little weight.

I also really like the way mine fits in my hand, and I have bigger hands. I've never used a stock shift ****, so I can't compare.

Default RS Shift ****

I love mine. Picked up from another RL about 3 yrs ago. I like the look and the feel. Complements my Walrod instrument trim rings perfectly.

As others have said, it does fit in my hand (biggish) very well. For me probably the nicest shift **** I've ever used. Elegant and minimalist are very good descriptions. Cheers

Is the metallic looking part of this shifter aluminum or plastic?

I didn't like the RS shifter, felt cheap and light. I much prefer the Aluminum shifter. Feels better in my hand and the weight of it makes shifting more precise somehow.

Gert (Carnewal) sells the RS shifter IIRC.

It sounds like the RS shifter is hit or miss with most owners. I am going to be doing a FD SSK, Golden Rod, and a Rothsport shifter in the not so distant future and here is my internal debate. I want to remain as "factory" as possible so I am leaning towards the Rothsport shifter that accepts the factory **** (in which I will buy RS) but I also like the idea of the aluminum **** on the Rothsport shifter as well. Any new input on the RS **** as well as Rothsport shifter?

Put me firmly in the 'hit' camp. I think it looks and feels good. It's a nice complement for the RS steering wheel too.
