Glad you're OK Brian, and I'm sure you'll have the car in a good shop.

IIRC, a Rennlister in Colorado ran over a dead elk a few years ago, and his car was not damaged.

What a relief you and your wife are OK. Impressive quick thinking on the toboggan strategy.

Cars are easy to fix. If you need or want any help give me a call.

Had a similar experience two years ago with my BMW F10 535. 70 mph on the NJ Turnpike at 1:00am. The deer was dead in the left lane and not much I could do but go over it.

My damage was approximately $10K in suspension, intercoolers, transmission mounts, cooling system, brake lines and lots of tin underneath. No real paint/body work required other than refinishing the lower front bumper. I suspect you will likely have damage to the suspension, steering rack, exhaust, etc. unless you hit a fawn. A full size deer is a big thing to run over.

I wanna play too, is it "No bloody eye deer in hell"?

But honestly, I wouldn't bother calling it anything because it's not going to come anyway.

Dealer had a cancellation, so car is going in tomorrow for mechanical / alignment check. Update to follow.

This sucks that you found yourself in this predicament, but you made the right decision. Years ago I took a motorcycle safety course at McMahon Stadium and the instructors told us that many motorcyclists get themselves into trouble when they try to swerve around obstacles on the road. To prove their points, the instructors had us students ride our bikes over large tires and crates of wood they put down on the ground to prove to ourselves going over the obstacle was a better choice than trying to swerve around it. Of course there are limitations to this so the instructors also taught us how to properly counter steer the motorcycle and taught us aggressive braking tactics.

I enjoy driving the Bow Valley Parkway 1A highway between Banff and Lake Louise. But I definitely don't push it like I used to push myself on Race City Speedway when it was open because I am always fearful that Bambi will be standing in the middle of the road at the next blind corner.
