question about the g50-33 transmission.
Is the first gear removable, or integrated to the shaft.
How hard would it be to replace the ring, pinion gear to a 4.0?

All the g50-3x have the same loose 1,2, though only the idler on 1 is really loose as the 11 tooth drive is integral to the mainshaft

Hi Bill,
Thanks so much for the information. For some reason I thought the 1st gear was removable from the shaft allowing me at a later time to change if I wanted to. I guess thats only an aftermarket feature.
I was planning to buy the box, send it to someone to change out the 3/4/5.
I currently have the removable 2nd gear box, so i will probably sell it when i am done. Should be an easy sell.
I reviewed most options, but since the box needs a new lsd, rebuild, 3,4,5,6 gears this seems to be the most economical way to re-gear.
3 + 3 + 4 = 10 k (still have the nasty 1/2 drop)
After its all said and done it will still probably cost me 8k once all said and done.

all the /3x use a 13:41(3.154) 1st, 21:41 or 40:20(2.00) 2nd
