Post Have you seen this Honda ad?

Pretty impressive, even if it's not from Mike's shop.

Cool add, anyone else notice that the 4 wheels accelerate UP against the slope?

Got a lot of attention in the UK - its a single 2 minute shot - no cuts, no computer graphics and it took 606 takes to get it right!!!

Ain't film making the best!!

Very cool. No computer generated images or trick photography. If you read the articles they tell you how it was done. The wheels up hill were because they were weighted inside.

I am sure if Mike's shop would have done it wouldn't have taken 606 takes.

The wheels going up the slope was done with weights inside the wheels - they were balanced when stationary, but wheel nudged the potential energy of the ballast was enough to overcome the effects of the slope - very clever!!

That is clever, Now I am a believer! I thought it might have been staged when I noticed that and it detracted from the "experience", but no more.

I had no clue that there are no computer images. Very impressive. Gotta check it out again knowing it's in real time.

I kept waiting for Wile E. Coyote to step out, or for some pile of magnetic bird seed to be poured at the end for the unsuspecting Road Runner.

I did notice the one glaring mistake of the wheel being on the wrong side! Bet someone lost a job over that one, huh? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Here is an article with some background info about the commercial...including how the tires went up the ramp (I'm sure all of you guys knew it already )

At one point three tyres, amazingly, roll uphill. They do so because inside they have been weighted with bolts and screws which have been positioned with fingertip care so that the slightest kiss of kinetic energy pushes them over, onward and, yes, upward. During the pre-shoot set-ups, film assistants had to tiptoe round the set so as not to disturb the feather-sensitive superstructure of the arranged metalwork. The slightest tremor of an ill-judged hand could have undone hours of work.

Absolutely stunning! I enjoyed it thinking all the while "gee, those guys behind their computer screens sure know their graphics." But after hearing that it was all done in one shot...WOW!!!
