Goodbye 997, hello 993!

The chip that normally comes with the kit has a 7,200rpm limit.
I asked for a 7,400rpm limit since I went with the Carrillo rods.
I will be using max. 7000-7200rpm but it's good to have that extra 200rpm for tricky situations.

The new engine feels very good! Huge difference to the stock engine. Lots of torque in the mid range and good power. Mated with the re-geared transmission it is just a bliss to push on the track! The sound is also very intoxicating. I love it!!

However, I had to retire prematurely on friday due to an oil leak in the engine we spotted. When car is cold, no oil is leaking but when hot (and oil is less viscous), there is oil dripping what looks like from between the cylinder and the block. Only from one cylinder though.
My engine guy says the cylinder base O-rings were a really snug fit and doesn't believe this would cause the leak.
I decided not to risk anything so down came the engine last night and it's off to Belgium to an aircooled Porsche engine specialist.
A little set back but I am hoping it is just the seal and not a broken case or something similary bad.
Hopefully back on the Nordschleife in 1-2 weeks!

If you mean suspension springs, then no. I did the same setup I got from you many years ago with the other 993.
I felt like the car was jumping more now than what it did last fall. I think I will try to soften up the shocks a bit next time i go out.
Likely also add some toe in in the rear and toe out in the front to get more heat into the tires.
Edit: Chuck, these are not the same Motons that came with the 993 I bought from you. These I bought off of another rennlister.
The ones I bought from you have been fully rebuilt to GT2 spec.

A couple of notes from the first drive:
Solid engine and transmission mounts; I would do this on a track/race car but I think it is just too much for a car that sees any street miles. Don't think the engine mounts are the problem but the solid transmission mounts transfer all the noise and clunks from the gearbox and it sounds like your car is coming apart. =)
Solid subframe mounts in the rear; Didn't notice much difference in cabin noise and to be honest not much difference in feel either. I suppose there is less movement/rubbernes in the car while transferring weight. Knowing that they do make a difference, I'd do them even in a streetable track car.
3.8 engine upgrade; HUGE difference! I've read all those comments from guys that have done the 3.8 upgrade and who have not noticed much difference. It needs to be noted however that mine was just not a 3.8 conversion but also the compression ration was raised, more aggressive cams, raised rpm with solid lifters and stiffer springs and ti retainers etc. FVD claims +70hp and +70hp. I don't know about numbers but the engine is really strong, like I said, huge difference to the stock engine. Very happy with the result!
Lightweight flyhweel in a '95; engine stalling, as expected. ISV to be cleaned and adjusted?

probably the best attribute of this kit for track use is the increased torque at higher rpm, track use and re-geared trans can really benefit for this. The stock motors just have too rapid a torque loss above 5500
I'd love to see the torque curve of that motor
