Default Good Detailer in the South Bay?

Can any of you SoCal Rennlisters recommend a good detailer - preferably in the South Bay area? My '86 Carrera's carpets are in need of a proper & good shampoo! Thanks in advance.

Rich:

Right next to Callas Rennsport, there is a detailer. I believe they are mobil as well. I cannot think of the name. I know Callas has his customer's cars washed there after servicing them.

You find some good detailers here ( as well as a whole list of other vendors )

Thanks, Jeff.

I should have clarified which South Bay area I was referring to. I live in SoCal and there is an area down here called the South Bay (beach cities and surrounding cities). Thanks.

Ooops... Sorry about that.. I'm still getting used to people referring to parts of the LA area as "South Bay"..

Just out of curiosity, I looked at a map of the LA area and couldn't find any bays around that area. I looked up the definition of "bay" ( for my own knowledge ) and found this at m-w.com

Bay:
1 : an inlet of the sea or other body of water usually smaller than a gulf
2 : a small body of water set off from the main body

Looking at this map of the LA area, it looks more like a gulf.. http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?ed...+ca&country=us

Sorry, I konw this is WAAAY OT, but it's slow here at work..

Jeff,

I'm not sure why they call it the South Bay area, either, as there isn't a "bay" to be found around here (Manhattan, Hermosa, Redondo Beaches, Torrance, PV, etc). Perhaps they call it that because there is an arc of a bay (much like Half Moon) that starts at Malibu and finishes up right here at the south point?

Believe it or not, I used to live in the northern South Bay area in the 80s (graduated from San Jose State)!

PS: Which track is that in your avatar?

Good point about Half Moon Bay.. I think they are "stretching" the definition of a bay there also.

My avatar is at Thunderhill in Sacramento. My favorite track ( although I've only been to LS, THill and WS ). Great open spaces and lots of runoff. I've heard buttonwillow is supposed to be as good too.

I did the reverse of what you did with college. I went to college in irvine and live up here now.

South Bay (L.A.) refers to the southern part of Santa Monica Bay. The S.M.Bay extends from Malibu to Palos Verdes.

I am also searching for a good detailer (exterior emphasis). I tried "Hand Job" in Hermosa on PCH, but wasn't impressed. (thought they might be good, cuz they detail for the local BMW and Audi dealerships).

Wassup, Mark? How's the 'new' 911 coming along?

You guys going to Autofest?
I may try to hook up with the other Rennlisters at Malibu on Sunday.
Maybe we can get a South Bay caravan up to 'bu?

Mike,

Thanks for the clarification on the geographical area that makes up the "South Bay!"

If you come across a good detailer, please let me know. It seems as if there are several Rennlisters who live in Manhattan Beach. I consider that to be my hometown since I grew up there. I'm not too far away so I still manage my weekly beach drives on Manhattan Ave & Highland.
