Default Aftermarket CD changer?

Anyone drill the bulkhead to install an after-market CD changer in the trunck?

If so, any recommendations, as the fuel tank looks it may have to come out to allow access for drilling?

i was lucky that the previous owner must have had a changer installed at one time; so my car already had a hole in place. maybe you could drill it from inside the car, above the pedals.

the cable for the factory/becker set up comes with a grommet on the covering in the correct location.

I'm pretty sure they were able to use an existing hole when mine was installed. I had mine mounted to the hardboard of the carpet so it sits vertically at the front of the trunk (and is easy to remove for autox or track events).

Just a thought, but I believe if you dremel out the little divider in the glovebox, a six disc changer would fit.

Have you considered getting an MP3 player in the car? You can have hundreds of CDs worth of music instantly accessible and never mess around with changing CDs again. It weighs a lot less too Just a thought...

great idea graham, i've got the Alpine 7998. It plays mp3's and it is awsome. have one cd with 6-7 kim waters albums, another with pink floyd, and so on. The CHA-S624 six disc changer from alpine plays mp3's also.

Kevin, I meant a hard-disk based player, with much greater storage than a CD so you never have to mess about with discs again. Is 10,000 songs enough? There are some car MP3 players out there (I think Blaupunkt has one), but you could also just plug in something like an Apple iPod which has the advantage that you can easily unplug it and use it as a walkman and take it into the house for adding more music. Both options have been discussed before. 'Search' is your friend...
