Default OT - Anyone have a Saab 9-3 or Infiniti G35?

I may be in the market for a new car this year and these two are on the radar.

Yeah I know they are sort of at opposite ends of the spectrum but that's what I'm considering.

I recently drove a G35 6speed. Exhaust note was awesome and the gear ratios were right on the money. Seats were a little 'too' sporty and lumpy. Center console is cool and the interior was pretty well laid out. It looks as though the center console was painted and may show wear and tear easily.

Along the same lines, my aunt and uncle just bought a new Maxima. I drove it and was impressed.

The Saab looks nice, but have never been in one....

I have owned several Saabs in the past (most recently a 9-5 SE) and I have to say that it was the BEST driving sedan I have ever owned. That being said it was also the most problematic. I sold it when the warranty expired.

My father-in-law just bought the G35 coupe. He was leaning towards the 350Z but when he drove one he realized it was too hard to get in and out (he has bad knees). I took him to the Inifiniti dealership and he drove the G35 coupe...awesome car! It is a 350Z with more comfort. If I was in the market I would definitely look at the G35.

The G35 is an awesome car! My friend (lucky bastard...) owns one. Having taken a few rides in it myself I'd say it's a fun car. Comfortable, quick, and stylish. I haven't been in that SAAB so I can't really comment. All I know is that you won't be dissapointed with the G35.

Personally I liked the finish of the 2003 Saab 9.3 better. It's very well thought out.

However the value of the G35 is terrific. Bloody quick and well made sans some plastic parts for the center console.

Thank you all.

I bought the wife a 93 linear about 5 months ago. She loves the car. The only thing I do not like about the car is in automatic shift mode it has a severe lag when coming out of a corner, but this can be cured by putting the trans in manual shift mode. Otherwise it is a nice car, she picked it over a BMW 3 series, G35,Volvo,Audi, Lexus, CTS, and Acura. I paid about $26K (out the door) for a linear with heated seats, 16" rims, leather interior, and a few other little add-ons.

I also just bought the wife a car, but I got a BMW 325i with the sport package. Took forever to find a 3 series without wood trim. We drove all the cars mentioned above and this is the one she picked because she liked the way it handled, it's the only RWD of the group (nothing but steering for the front wheels). Her second choice (distant) was the Audi A4 with the CVT transmission. It was the peppiest (with the 3.0) and it could become a 6 speed manual shift automatic.

The G35 is rear wheel drive, correct?

Greg, I guess you are right. The G35 is rwd. My wife thought it was too mushy, even with the sport suspension. It was actually near the bottom of her list.

wife had a saab 9 3 se, i hated to drive it because of the foot pad was tilted in & no other place to put foot, also very mushy. bought her a boxster & love that car as much as my 993, even more with top down.

I just bought my wife a 3 series BMW. I didn't even drive it until after we bought it (she did though) & I must say I have never been so impressed!! Not that its the best car I've ever driven(it is one of the better), but that it drives so nice for the least expensive car they sell!! If we didn't have three cars I would be buying an M3 for sure as my daily driver. So my point is you may want to ad the 325/330 to your list.

I alway like the unique style of the Saab but also heard the same about the problems. Interestingly, CR, 4/03, listed the Saad 9-5 as one of the best used cars. These cars are famous for torque steer too.

I really like both cars mentioned here. The 9-3 looks great and the G35 Coupe looks exceptionally sporty. I've never driven either of these cars, so I can't speak for its characteristics. I'm sure you can't go wrong with either car.

My family thought I was strange for buying a saab. But several years later, two of them have 9-5 wagons. I had fun driving my Saab 900 and the new 9-3 certainly looks nice. Although, there is the 9-2 upcoming.....
