Post PPI recommendations in Ann Arbor

The C2S in LA didn't work out for me. E-mail me for details.

I've found one in Ann Arbor that looks great. Does anyone know a good Porsche shop there for a PPI?

Also, would any locals be willing to look at this car for me?

Thanks.

Tim,

Are you buying Will's car? Looks like a nice one!
You can ask the buyer for recommendations but I had my PPI done by Tim Pott at Eurotec right in AA 734-973-6335. He was understaffed so I had to wait longer than he promised. You just need to set clear expectations of what you want done, as a PPI is many different things to different people.

The Porsche dealer in Ann Arbor is Howard Cooper. It's a very small volume Porsche outfit and I don't get a sense they work on a lot of cars but I could be wrong. There are other independent shops in the Detroit metro area but I've not had any experience with them.

Anyone, anyone...? Will, Richard?

Luis, thanks for your post. Yes, I am looking at Will's car. I called Tim Pott and left a message. How long did you have to wait for a PPI? Have you seen this car in person? Are you close to AA? Would you be able to take a look at it for me?

That's a nice car. I always keep track of the comings and goings of white 993's. Hope it stays in the Rennlist "family".

I know the car and have driven it. Very, very nice. No issues. Yes, I would use Tim Pott for a PPI rather than the dealer. Very sorry Will is parting with this low mileage beauty though.

Tim

Have you looked at the '98 CS that was listed yesterday in Rennlist classifieds....The car is in Portland

The owner sent some pictures, a list of the options and written history of the car....wish I was in Portland....don't be alarmed by the asking price....

Email me and I can help you or share my market experience with this model year....I am looking at two right now

Cheers

I'm a friend of Will, but I'll chime in anyway.

I've seen the car a few times, and it's REALLY nice. Will is really meticulous when it comes to the C2S and I don't know of any problems.

As for PPI's, I use a place called Auto Europe in Birmingham, MI for my service. It's probably about an hour away from Ann Arbor, but they work on plenty of 993's including my own. The owner (Tom) had a C2S and just sold it recently for a dedicated track car.

I've also heard good things about Automotive Techniques in Novi, MI--which is slightly closer to Ann Arbor. Never been there though.

Email me if you'd like the phone numbers.

Good luck!

What '98 CS listed yesterday? I didn't see it. And I don't see it there now. Which one are you talking about? There is a nice '98 C2S modified to an RS in Cali for $69.5K. Is that the one you're talking about?

Talking

And I 3rd Auto Europe

Regarding the car, I'm biased since I'm also a friend of Will's, but still have to say that his C2S is the cleanest and most pristine example I've ever seen. Makes me want to run away and start scrubbing mine with a toothbrush

Will, you'll regret it if you sell it ..........

Hi, everyone. Thanks for the kind words about my car. I'm sure Tim will like it when he sees it, and it would be nice to keep it in the Rennlist family.

Chris, I'm trying not to think about the consequences of selling the car. If I start doing that, my resolve will weaken!!! Fortunately, I'll still have the '87 Carrera to fondle. Maybe I'll drop a 3.6L into it and finally be able to chase you down on the track!

Just an update. I had Eurotec do the PPI today. It passed with flying colors. They hadn't seen one this nice. Compression check was 195 200 200 205 200 200. They tell me that is especially good. It's hard for me to believe they couldn't find anything wrong with the car, but after talking to the owner (Will) and reading the feedback about him and the care is shows to his cars, I don't think this is out of the realm of possibilities.

I am flying out to Michigan tomorrow morning, and will see try to see Will Saturday night and test drive the car on Sunday. I cannot wait! I want to drive it NOW! I'm so excited because I really think this one is going to work out.

Any last minute advice for the test drive? If the guys at Eurotec can't find anything wrong with it, I doubt I can. I've seen lots of photos of it inside and out, so I have a pretty good idea of the condiiton. I think I've covered my bases, but being a rookie, I'm open to any and all sugggestions.

This is me trying to get some sleep before I have to get up at 4:15 a.m. tomorrow to catch my flight. <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" />

Tim,

When I was looking I remember talking to the owner and the car was real nice. He had it for sale and then I believe he took it off the market. As I recall it was very nicely optioned.

You are correct. He did have it for sale and decided to keep it one more summer. It is quite nice, and nicely optioned. LSD, 18" hollow spoke twists, motor sound, RSR mufflers, alum shift **** and brake handle. I better stop writing about how nice it is before Will changes his mind or someone tries to steal it out from under me.

Forget everything I've written about it. It's awful! Ready for the junkyard! Stay away from this one!
