Default Belt Replacement

the alternator belt lost it's teeth this morning, so I have a project for the weekend. I always seem to have difficulty getting the A/C belt around the speed nuts (?) on the rear of the engine tray. Any suggestions other than have patience :-)?

Thanks

Marc

figured it out...found some patience in the lower drawer of the tool chest. actually it may have been more magic than patience.

Just did the same job today..

A few interesting points... If you are getting a new A/C belt, they are actually shorter then they should be, so the A/C needs to be removed from all the bolts.

I use a flat magnet to hold the three long bolt nuts (and they are square) to hold the back ones in place. Pretty easy that way..

Also, Make sure that if you the spacer between the inner belt and outer belt os narrow side in. If not, the belt is 2-3mm out of alignment with the crank shaft... and guess what happens next.... Thats right, it overheats and starts to smoke. Luckily Bill Pfister at Eurotech in Framingham is open on Saturdays.. and has a full assortment of belts...

The tolerance's on these cars are crazy tight!!!

Thanks BILL!!!
