Looks like you may have an alignment problem in the front...those tires are heavily worn on the inside.

More iPhone pics for today. Higher quality stills and video to follow. The parts are all in really great shape!

Absolutely going to get new AD80Rs all around and full alignment before it goes back together.

Work of art. Thanks for sharing, especially the engine guts. Pretty sure the last picture shows the oil passage that they kind of forgot in the M96 and M97?

Can't remember what build you're planning, but I recall something about porting the heads. I'd do some more homework here. The 9M heads have smaller port diameters than stock heads. Volumetric efficiency makes power, not port sizes. And in your case, since IIRC you're keeping hydraulic lifters, you're going to have to stick with a mild cam -- which is another reason not to enlarge ports. With mild cams and at the RPM's you're going to be driving, big ports will mean a slower intake charge, which means worse cylinder filling, which means less power.

Thanks for this note! Will do more research for sure. Just to be clear we are keeping the stock valve sizes and not upping to RS valve specs. We will do some machine work to clean up the airflow, so I suppose that is just called polishing and not port and polish. My shop knows all this stuff, so please don't take my inexperience here and incorrect communication for more than it is worth

The bottom end was rock solid and the motor could probably have gone 100k plus more miles if we didn't split the case and had just done the top end. Another note is that the SAI ports were totally blocked and non functional.

A few more iPhone pics:

Great pics! I think you mentioned it earlier in the thread, but how many miles are on these engine components?

M96/7 are wholly different engines.

I put just a few miles on after this picture, but I didn't quite get to 138993

The other bummer is that I didn't have time to do a "before" 0-100 run and film it. I will do an "after" run for sure and again after the re-gear in phase II.

Sometime this summer if I clean up the shop enough to have "guests" we can bust down a couple of 3.6s I have sitting around if anyone wants to get up close and personal with guts. The one I would be most eager to strip is a 200K'er that developed an oh-so subtle rod knock with the owner being astute enough to drive right over to his shop where they immediately shut it off. (The engine had a history of low oil pressure for over 100K miles.)

Thanks for posting these. I love seeing what these engines look like apart.
