Post Oil DIY: part questions

Ok, I read Robin's site on DIY oil change, and will attempt my first oil change this weekend. I have 0w-40 and the filters already, but I wanted the crush washers mentioned on Robins site. I called the local dealer, and he said they do not carry the part numbers I referred too, which means, also, that they do not use them when doing oil changes.

The part numbers from Robin's site are:
900-123-118-30
900-123-095-30

The dealer has 200 of the following which the parts guy said they used instead:
900-123-011-30

Are these the same thing and can I use them? I don't want to do my first DIY incorrectly! TIA

While I am posting, anyone know where I can get a used aluminum shift **** and handbrake in black leather?

You can probably reuse the crush washers, it's not absolutely critical that you replace them. However, make sure that you replace the o ring on the oil tank drain plug though.

Good luck on your first DIY oil change!

I would NOT reuse the crush washers - I did and developed an oil leak at the oil tank drain plug. I've let the rubber O-ring go 1-2 changes without a problem.

Can't help you with the part nos. - am at work away from my parts lists. As I remember, these washers are something like a 21mm ID, 24 mm OD, and are a flat aluminum washer. My '95 has the same washers for engine and oil tank drain. The dealer items probably would work fine - I don't think there's really been a change in these washers in over 20 years of 911 production.

Thanks Ray, I would also assume that these parts will work and plan to pick up a bunch today. I was just being cautious, don't want to leave the engine on the ground, suing the mechanic won't be an option!
