Good luck with the sale! Sorry to see you leaving the 993 community. I have enjoyed your posts over the last year. Suck getting old (I am heading in that direction). Hope you find the next one soon!

Congratulations! Now order a Softronic tune and a muffler bypass for the coming TTS. Press the Sport Plus button, put one foot on the brake and the other one the accelerator. Hold the pedal to the floor and you'll be sent back in the seat. You have just experienced almost 600hp of launch control!

That actually sounds like fun!

Just cleaned, leather treated, and waxed my 993 for 2 hours. I have 1 more week to stare at my pretty much pristine car. It truly looks brand new. It's ready to roll down the road with the next Rennlister who picks it up next weekend. I hope he's active on this board and enjoys the car 1/2 as much as I have.

Not to me; over the years, I've enjoyed your stream-of-consciousness posts about your personal angst.

I think you will find that you worry less about your new 911, than your current car.

My brain is exploding right now.

Will wash and wax it one last time VERY late tonight.
Will do the leather with Leatherique.

Will cry a bit.
But am also excited. Now I can drive a newer 911 that won't kill my knees since I won't have to shift. I know it won't be as involving. I get that. I've loved my car for better or worse for 12 years. It's not like I don't know what I'm losing here.

The 2011 that eventually replaces it may seem boring to some of you, but I've driven it and, ok, it's a bit boring to me too. But who cares. No more shifting for hours at a time in bumper to bumper DC/Northern VA and MD traffic. It's just grueling when you're driving 3-10 mph for an hour or more twice a day, and during appts midday in DC. It blows.

At least I'll have another 911 one day and in reality, I have no regrets about doing what I'm doing. Super pysched to get this 993 out of my garage in a week and the gent comes and gets it (from the midwest and drives it back). It's hard to look at. I pretend it's just not there.

I appreciate everything you guys have offered me here for the 12 years I've been here. Without Rennlist, I would never have owned this car that long. Without a community, my car is just a 993. With Rennlist, it's a way of life. I know some of my posts, thoughts, lack of DIY skills and ideas have been beyond frustrating to many of you at times, but I have learned a lot here about web ettiquette and life in general. What's important in life, in play, etc, I've learned much of that, right here.

This is not my last post on this forum by any means, just wanted to let you know I have a deposit. Who knows, maybe it'll fall through.

Cheers,

Steve

Congrats on the sale. I love my 997 and I'm sure you will too. It's been fun sharing this board with you for the last 13 years.

Thanks guys. I'm still a 993 owner though. If the gent from the midwest doesn't buy my car on Friday as planned... well, I may just take it off the market! It looks like a brand new car sitting in my garage right now. It's like a time capsule as it sits there. Everything is cleared out of it. It's pretty darn clean.

I looked at a Cayman GTS today in white at a local dealer on my way into work. $93k. Pretty sweet, but it didn't call to me. They said a doctor traded in his 911 C4S (a newer one) and had a new 911 GTS on order for $164k but drove the Cayman GTS and bought it instead. Wow. Pretty sweet story. It just didn't scream at me - YOU MUST BUY ME.

I looked at a new Turbo S. If I only had $188k I'd buy it Love it.

Looked at the new 911 GTS with the ducktail. Nice but not for me and it's also $131k. Ouch.

Looked at the bright blue Boxster. LOVED it but not for me. Looked at newer base model and S 991's. Not my style. Only like the look of the Turbo S 991.

They had a white 2010 GT3 for $110K. Killer but the spoiler on the rear is too big for me. I'm more subtle.

I sat in and drove in a black on black convertible 2011 Turbo S a week ago. LOVED it but I'm not a convertible guy. There's no 2011-12 Turbo S's anywhere near my house for sale within 200+ miles right now so I sit patiently and wait.

If I could come up with a car I'd prefer instead of the 2011-12 Turbo S, I'd consider it but I've looked at all the cars for sale out there new and old (for around $80-95K) and this is the only one that callls to me a night, and day.

Plus, they cost a sh*tload, still. Was hoping to get in one at $90k or $95k but may have to wait a bit (one with a bit higher miles). Would MUCH prefer to get one from a local Porche dealer so I gave them all my name, email and #.

My buddy said to me today - wow, you're no longer a Porsche owner. I can't hang out with you anymore. He was kidding but it struck me, yep, my garage will be empty for... a while.

On the other hand, it will be nice to have pretty decent working A/C, a built in Nav instead of having to rig up my Garmin everytime I need directions and PDK (automatic) for the bumper to bumper DC traffic I sit in most of the day will be nice. Shifting from neutral to 1rst and 2nd and back all day is a royal PITA.

Steve

Maybe I missed your comment, but why wouldn't you consider at Tip 993 ?

I'll sell you my 1991 BMW Convertible for $10k - it is an automatic with only 26k miles and even comes with a Dancin' Bears' sticker
