Never posted a For Sale car ad here before. Thanks for the info on the VEHICLE MARKETPLACE part of Rennlist. I just posted it there too.

Thanks. Funnily, I couldn't access the Vehicle Marketplace ad by using the link you posted, but was able to see your ad when I went directly to the Vehicle Marketplace forum. Nice looking car. GLWS, I think (you may be hoping it won't sell, by the sound of it).

Good luck, Steve! You've been on the fence about this for a while. Hope a newer car fulfills your desires.

Man- sorry to see it go but glad you still want a Porsche.

You've definitely had a very strained relationship with the car at times. I've seen you come close to selling but can't believe its now for sale. I think you priced it right and it should sell quickly.

I hope you'll still come around this board from time to time. Although most of the advice was at your expense, the thread from several years ago when the market crashed and you were seeking advice is still one of the best reads on the internet. I've printed it out and given it to several people over the years as the unsolicited financial advice in that thread is spot on and I think it gives a younger person a good perspective on money and what to do and not to do with it.

I'll give you one last piece- do you really want to replace an appreciating asset with a car that is destined to be worth $50k in 12 years

GLWS!

IMO, it's a great ad, great car, great price.

I have no issues with a "no haggle" price.

GLWS.

But, but... the 2011 Turbo S could still be worth a lot more than $50k in 12 years because all the old codgers (like some of us) that don't want to or can't shift anymore due to medical conditions and can't afford $240k for a NEW 2025 Turbo S will want a cheaper, 2011 w/PDK, driving up the price of my 2011 to all time highs.

Yep. I assume if a PPI comes up with a few thousand of required repairs (AC being one of them), I would think negotiability comes into play.

Deposit taken on the car...
Sick feeling in stomach.
Messed up knees are happy but...
My brain is exploding right now.

Will wash and wax it one last time VERY late tonight.
Will do the leather with Leatherique.

Will cry a bit.
But am also excited. Now I can drive a newer 911 that won't kill my knees since I won't have to shift. I know it won't be as involving. I get that. I've loved my car for better or worse for 12 years. It's not like I don't know what I'm losing here.

The 2011 that eventually replaces it may seem boring to some of you, but I've driven it and, ok, it's a bit boring to me too. But who cares. No more shifting for hours at a time in bumper to bumper DC/Northern VA and MD traffic. It's just grueling when you're driving 3-10 mph for an hour or more twice a day, and during appts midday in DC. It blows.

At least I'll have another 911 one day and in reality, I have no regrets about doing what I'm doing. Super pysched to get this 993 out of my garage in a week and the gent comes and gets it (from the midwest and drives it back). It's hard to look at. I pretend it's just not there.

I appreciate everything you guys have offered me here for the 12 years I've been here. Without Rennlist, I would never have owned this car that long. Without a community, my car is just a 993. With Rennlist, it's a way of life. I know some of my posts, thoughts, lack of DIY skills and ideas have been beyond frustrating to many of you at times, but I have learned a lot here about web ettiquette and life in general. What's important in life, in play, etc, I've learned much of that, right here.

This is not my last post on this forum by any means, just wanted to let you know I have a deposit. Who knows, maybe it'll fall through.

Cheers,

Steve

What about the '97 or '98 Turbo S?

Too much money (WAY OVER $120k) and I'd still have to shift all day and deal with a clutch.
