Got the DME relay and replaced (the one in the car was a 993#), and turned the key. First time, same clicking sound. Second time, cough, hiccup, and voila! it ran perfectly.
Drove it for about 45 minutes, and then again for a 30 minute spell later in the evening, started fine.
This AM, the cranking seemed a little weak, though it did start quickly, and ran fine....
Hmmm... maybe the battery is playing a role?
I will check the DIY @ Pcar abotu the battery. Should I just replace it, or take it into the shop and have them fart around and check it?
How old is it?
If it is over 3 years old, just replace it with a redtop Optima sealed battery. Do a search and you will see lots of discussions on them.
Got the Optima Red Top. Seems to start right up. Took an hour-long "10-minute" drive on a resurfaced Route 70 on a beautiful - and not-too-hot Septmeber day, and life is good.
Issue seems resolved. Will let you know if otherwise.
