I use Gene with Autohaus in Peapack Gladstone. He only works on air-cooled. On a typical day there are a couple of 356s in there, some SCs, etc. When he first my my 993 he said "I sometimes do the newer ones too" (meaning the 20 year old 993). He's very informal (kinda like an artist). I bring my car 25 miles each way. He doesn't do alignment.

Beautiful car BTW. I hope to see it in person one day.

Protosport in pompton plains would be a good choice to install suspension and do alignment. You need a specialist to do an alignment on the 993.

The prices of 993 hardbacks are literally ridiculous now, where to find them is also a big challenge. You asked for other options, look into the 996 sport seats. The price difference will blow you away and IMO they look pretty good in 993s. If you want to go non-Porsche, plenty of threads to keep you busy. Recaro PP and A8s look amazing too!

Beautiful color 993 there and welcome!

#7, most common issue with cruise control is a stuck switch with your clutch pedal. My CC goes out on me from time to time, but I find that simply restarting the car fixes it. Quirky beasts.
If the previous owner installed LED illumination on the exterior lights this can cause the cruse control to stop working as well. Postings covering this and the work around on this site.

I would not be in such a hurry to install the hard back seats. The leather covers tend to pop out easily. Seat replacement leather cover kits for them will cost more. If you are a long haul owner I would stick with the soft back seats.

1) Horn- the basket grommets were worn and it went off all of the time- $ 90 part and a great tutorial on this site
2) Cruise died last summer- went through a ton of stuff- ended up being the module under the passenger's seat- got a new ( used) on ehere on RL for $ 100 bucks, works great now.
3) sunroof seal- another great tutorial here and about $ 150 in parts from Pelican ( both Sun and Pelican are great sites for parts.
4) air wall- replaced $ 100 bucks- easy fix
5) new power window switch ( I bought 3 extras- these are a POS)
Things I've done-

New racing pedals
Turbo air ducts
resprayed bumper
replaced a cracked wheel well liner
new seals on the bumper
front protection bar
new stereo
extra set of wheels
replaced stone guards
replaced the "s" logo
new battery
that's about it...

My car has Pss9 suspension lowered to ROW height, motor sound package and wode ovals, short shift and golden rod to really tighten things up. been completely rebuilt and new clutch at 70K ( got 100K on it now).

Have fun- these are awesome cars.
Thx for the great feedback and pointers, I will start tackling the CC and hopefully it is the sticky pedal switch, but if not will certainly look through the module below the passenger seat per your experience.

Yup, that's the one! She's actually been a lifetime CA car short for the last 2-3 yrs (bought, serviced with full documentation, and resold by Carlsen Porsche in Palo Alto, CA - hoping the former owner(s) are here and recognize their car). Thx for your pointers, I did start with Steve Weiner but since he does not perform PPIs any longer, he referred me to Kurt @ Marque Motors - great guy and great operation. Did a good amount of work before I had her shipped (new control arms, oil change with filters, spark plugs, brake fluid drain, air and cabin filters, various small items, etc.) so she is all good to go from a maintenance perspective.

Enjoy fixing her up....that's the real fun.

Thanks Emerald, I will certainly try that. Looks like she had been sitting a bit as the (new) battery had drained, so perhaps that is the trick. One reason I started with replacing all the fluids, starting with the antifreeze (I kid, I kid)

Agree, love the blues on these cars (was intrigued to discover that David Beckham's 993 C2S was this very color). I wanted to go bold, and while I now blacks and silvers seems the most popular, I was shying away from those in favor os something different. Ideally red and yellow were my top choices, but the Zenith exterior and classic gray interior work really well, simply love it!

I figured as much! This one happens to be a fairly late production model, per the stats I've seen seems there were only 299 MY 1998 cars in the US, and this one was done a few months before the production line shut down on 3/31/1998!

Will be posting some pics of her stablemates shortly since you guys asked for it
