Default Protomotive

Hey All,

New to Rennlist but owned Porsche's for 36 years, (4 ea 356's, 2 ea 930's, 4 ea 911's). On my 11th now. It's a 98 C4S, Arctic Silver, with a Stage 2 Protomotive Twin Turbo engine. 14,750 miles. Sold my highly modified 88 Turbo to buy.

Does anyone have any opinions, experience, etc. with Protomotive? Would appreciate any feed back you may have. I have spoken with the egine builder, and Todd Knighton(sp) and they seem quite nice and helpful but would appreciate all y'all's opinions.

Thanks

Todd at Protomotive is great. I have his ECU and Intercooler setup and the car is awesome. There are a number of the 996tt guys that get their ECUs done by Todd. He just helped a Rennlister in Panama that was upgrading to a TT engine in his C4S get the thing running with a new ECU after no on else could help him.

Good luck and welcome to the board..

Also slum over to the 996TT board...Protomotive has a pretty good reputation amongst the guys there.

(btw - I had toyed with the idea of their Stage 2 last year; decided to look for a TT instead)

I can't speak for the longevity of his built engines, but Todd is (literally) a miracle worker when in comes to tuning Porsches. He did the final sorting of the 993 engine installation in my car, when my (well respected) mechanic couldn't get it right. I know of one other person here in the US who has a 993 engine in their 964. Small world, he also wound up needing Todd's help (via his NJ affiliate) to get the final installation sorted.

Thanks guys. The NJ rep is the one who built my engine. He is also a good guy. My car is awesome. I drove a friends 996 C4S last week and of course there is no comparison. It is also quicker than my 88 which was 3.6, twin plug, Garrettson, ball beraing turbo, etc.

Sinful:

I see you are in Raleigh, at least part of the time. I am in Durham. At some point I'd love to see your car! Sounds interesting!

My buddy has had ALOT of experience with Protomotive & like everyone has said he is great. With that said I would ship my car to him before using one of the east coast guys that he is in bed with. I have heard some horror stories!! Besides he is the brain behind it so why not let him do the work!! IMO
