I am sure this information is readily available from this board.
What is the weight of the stock 993 door(s) with the electric windows/mirrors, glass, stock door panel______________
What is the weight of the factory RS door with manual window/mirror thinner glass, RS door panel______________
Thanks!

Hi Bill
your question will be impossible to answer precisely for the following reasons. 993RS's were custom built to each customers order by Porsche.
Hartmut Kristen, Porsche's director of special car sales etc...stated Porsche that 80% of all 993 RS vehicles were ordered by customers and were produced with full power accessories like Airconditioning, radio, powerwindows, and airbags. 993 RS cars had sunroofs. The same "comfort options" were available and offered by Porcshe are ultimately produced on 993 GT2s.
On German websites 993RS can be seen with powerwindows, A/C and even the doors have the "bottom map pockets /glove boxes" that are on all regular 993s as standard equipment.
Given all of the above......its impossible to nail down precise weight savings because all 993RS/ 993GT2 vehicles were unique and production variation was driven by options chosen by each customer.
As a result of all this 993RS luxury (sic)....... Kristen stated that Porsche made airconditioning and powerwindows standard on all 996 GT3 cars including the GT3 clubsport. Customers could for "no cost" have A/C and power accessories "no charge- deleted" at build time.
Have a great day-

PS: Call DC LEE or Hank Cohn they actually bought the "spartan 993RS doors" that have no optional parts. If they weighed 'before & after" you have an idea.

My $.02 on the RS door weight.
Looking in the parts book the only differences I see between the RS door and the standard door is:
1) Frame for thinner glass
2) Thinner glass
3) Manual window winders
4) Lightweight inner panel
A friend converted his car to manual window winders, weighed the parts and found he saved 1.5 pounds per door.
The glass is 3 mm thick instead of 4.2 mm thick, In changing my rear window to thin glass, making the same changes in thickness, I saved 5 pounds so I would expect less than that from just changing the glass in the door, say 3 to 4 pounds.
Your guess on the saving for the door paneling is as good as mine. <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" /> <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[burnout]" />
